It may be foolhardy and part of the irrationality of following a footy club that's generally been so rubbish for 20-odd years but my admiration for Teague is growing.

Fits the courageous, no frills, defender can-coach type. Has played under and coached under some impressive coaches and has spent a lot of time outside of Melbourne giving him a better understanding of the AFL in a national context.

What's not to like?!

Just give us the cup.

yep.
he makes it more about the players and less about the coach.
show us what you can do
rather than look what I can do.
love it!

Teaguey is now neck and neck with Ratts in our poll.

Yep, he has my vote. Seems to be well regarded by the playing group.

Don't post here very often- went to this morning's open training. Teague was directing the drills (forwards contesting at the Royal Parade (or the thunderous Robert Heatley stand end for us golden oldies  ) and I've gotta say, he doesn't suffer fools gladly.....quite robust in his direction to Paddy Dow at one point. And exhorting SPS to hit the body hard and shadow the opposition with intent :smoking: Don't know why but I have the Jezza vibe (circa 1978) about Teague  Already voted for DT

My summary exactly...

He has started very well, no doubt about it.
We will know more by the end of the season.
The selection panel is faced with the big quandry,
"What if he is the next Clarko, Parko or Barasso?"
alternatively,
"What if this is all he has got?"

NM is in the same boat. If they don't select Shaw, we should add him to the possibles. He and Teague have a similar position. Keep it fairly simple and let the players play footy.

I'd be happy to give Teague a try. It doesn't matter whom we select, there are no guarantees.

Thanks for that TBWKTM. I like the way describe the “Jezza vibe”. I am very optimistic about David Teague. Go Blues :fight:

"We're not starting again, we're continuing on with the strategy. The strategy isn't 100 per cent perfect all the time, changes need to be made along the way" - LoGiudice at Bolton's sacking

With this in mind and given he was already part of the coaching group, Teague has the job if we continue like this for the rest of the year.

No guarantees, you're right. And I totally get that Teague is enjoying a honeymoon period, and will likely do so until the end of the year.

We certainly need to iron out our slow starts, but the character that is hopefully being built by the team making strong comebacks and working their way back into games they might otherwise give up on is a very positive step. In theory, that increase in belief and confidence will yield further results in a year or two if we start grinding out results on a more regular basis.
