This Clarko thing has got a bit Malthouse about it :?

I can't see the similarity.

Big mouth Malthouse was in the media when he was spruiking for the job, saying the Blues should be a Top 4 team ie Ratts isn't the right bloke, then he told the Blues he would take the Blues to a GF....and got paid $1M....hook line and sinker for the stinker of all time.

Clarko, the dick, wouldnt have traded out Betts.

Clarko isnt desperate for the Carlton job and has made commitment to his existing commitments.

Mathouse was a coach who was shown the door and desperate to coach again

Clarkson isn't looking at coaching us, Carlton are obviously looking at prizing him from his existing contract and the only things that would talk would be money and the list.

I’ve stated many times that I just desperately want us to be a true power club again, on and off field.

I’m all for whatever it takes for us achieve that.

Unsure how likely it is (most probably still very, very unlikely), if that means securing Clarkson as coach, I can live with it.

Me too

Thanks for putting it that way.

I hate Clarkson as much as I hate Neil Balme...and Laurie Fowler, but especially the first 2.

For people with longer memories would it be as bad as Neil Balme landing at our club

Ive got a longer memory.

1973 GF...I cried....and then there's Mal Brown breaking Keogh's jaw and belting everyone.
The footy league didnt test for Angel dust or Ice back in those days. Brown wents nuts.

8 years too late.

If any coach has struggled with the 6-6-6 changes, it's Clarkson. Best 2 two-way runners in the competition in Scully and Smith, yet routinely torched on the outside this season.

2 mil a season indicates to me the potential that we don't fully understand how the soft cap on coaching staff works.

I've got a theory that without the leaders Mitchell, Hodge and Lewis Clarkson has been floundering.
Those 3 players made decisions on the field which bought them results.

Im inclined to agree Clarkson and Balme both invoke wroth, their actions were
despicable, and indelibly stamped.
However Clarkson may be the pathway to our pedestal , were we rightly belong above the rest.
So one may have to just swallow the bile a bit for the sake of glory.

I suspect that this is just makey-uppey from Ben Dixon to get himself a bit of publicity, (it worked).

Clarkson has come out today and stated categorically that he won't be coaching Carlton.

10 weeks from the end of the season with Hawks 2 games from the finals, did anyone expect Clarkson to tell his players that he's leaving?

This may not happen but in the past 20 years there has been one coach ahead of the game at all times. One coach who changes the game every few years to suit his team. If that man is any way interested in coming to the Blues, forget the cost. He's worth every penny.

At the end of the year the Hawks will decide they want a rebuild. Clarko will say he prefers to have another crack. The 2 parties will agree to go their separate ways.

Carlton are a great club
Tremendous.
If I was going to coach anywhere else(which I am not) it would be at Carlton.

This has brought back a lot of memories. How good is Bear's forehand here?!

Cashy had won Wimbledon a few months prior...damn that's a strong shot...should almost be in the Tennis thread!

We often forget that, Clarkson’s jaw must be made of stone, respect to the Bear there, because he made a split second decision to get Clarkson and got him, Donald MCDonald on the contrary made a very half hearted pussy effort, to hit Gleeson whilst he was down.
