Maybe?

I suspect that sort of role is exactly what he was selling himself for last night

He won me over.

Put together a team of football experts with a people person at the helm ie David Nobel.

He got his team to 2 GF's......surely that is an achievement!!!!

Not that I'm advocating for Lyon, I don't particularly want him.

However..... of those THREE GFs (not 2),

- he lost one on a flukey little toe poke in the last minute;
- he lost the second one on a flukey bad bounce in the last minute;
- he lost the third one on uncharacteristic bad goal kicking in the 1st qtr by Ballantyne and Fyfe.

So he could quite easily be 3 and 0, or at least 2 and 1....... or even 1 and 2.

A very unlucky coach IMO.

If you want to get technical, he didn't lose the second one a flukey bad bounce. It was a draw.

This almost seems too obvious. He could well be our next coach, but it wouldn't surprise me if SOS was helping his mate pressure Freo into offering him a new deal.

A mate of mine was at a function on Saturday night with a very senior Geelong official who said he’d heard that a deal with Voss as coach and Roos as mentor was as good as done.

Interesting results so far which I think indicates there are some strange mindsets out there.

When given the choice between Ratten and Clarkson more people want Ratten.

Hard to fathom that thought process. 3 time Premiership Coach and one of the AFL all time great Coaches vs Ratts.

Go figure. :eek:

You might get a clip from Clarko for getting that number wrong.

They are certainly the best of best mates. Being in an external business together is probably not a good mix re Coach/Head List Manager if it ends in a fallout.

Fairly rude of SOS the day after. Both know full well what the headlines would be, being seen together in the heartland. Poor choice IMHO and disrespectful to Bolts.

Not sure on the relationship between Lloyd and Lyon. 2nd hand info is that is 'just'.

Since 2000 only Matthews at the start of the century and Madhouse have won premierships after coaching other clubs the rest were first time coaches. The wheels have turned from going out and getting the gun coach from another club to getting the best first time coach out there??

Did this function involve a jacuzzi, scantily clad women and Brian Cook?

Not disrespectful. It's friends having dinner. Up to others not to make something out of nothing.

Lyon is here for the Hall of Fame dinner tonight. SOS and Lyon are good friends so had dinner. Why shouldn't he because flower will take it the wrong way.

Think what you like Jim. I think you are being intentionally naive all things considered.

They could have had a pleasant Lunch anywhere discretely and still enjoyed each others company, but they chose to 'stimulate' the media knowing full well what the result would be. When SOS undertakes an act knowing the result will become rampant speculation the day after the Club has sacked BB I believe it is pure selfishness on his behalf. The Club has enough going on, does it really need this speculation on the front page.

Neither has any love for the media and an abundance of 'self interest' is ingrained in both. As Caro would say..........Poor form and ill considered SOS.

Sos isn't exactly disappointed about Bolton's departure

Is SOS safe because he's mates with MLG?

Well said.

And besides he and the former coach didn't see eye to eye. SOS can have dim sims wherever he chose. Some people need to get a life.

Maybe I'm missing something. On what basis has he done a 'great' job?

I would say he has been ok. But great?

Given SOS is mates with the Pres will the club be able to handle the discussion around SOS's ongoing employment in a rational/professional manner?

For what it’s worth :Sportsbet have Brad Scott at 2.75, Teague at 4, Ross Lyon at 7, Voss at 8, Roos at 10, Ratten 11 and Mitchell 15. Clarkson at 41 along with Adam Simpson. 41 is basically the quote for anyone. My choice Navy Nina is 41s.
I think you can forget Clarkson.
