Dude, we were never ever favourites, despite your daily proclamations and after losing over 500 games of experience were never s chance, hence the bookies smashing our odds out long. It was loopy for anyone to have backed us today and I am perplexed by your insistence we were favourites.
We brought in a hack ruck who has lost us games this year, a debutant, a third year player who hasn’t been on the park for two years and averaged 11 possessions a game when he did play, and you expect us to be improved? Nup. Never gonna happen.
I hazard a guess North were around 26yo per player and we were 23. That’s why the bookies backed them not us. Forget the vibe. Forget Mabo. Forget etc.
We were up against it from a Thursday night on.
I'm frankly too pissed off to get into a lengthy argument and am the first to admit I'm not thinking too clearly. But I'll just leave this here and move on.
The above factors you quote are exactly the things this team needs to learn to overcome if they have any aspirations to leave the bottom, let alone become a force. To me we were "favourites" today because I stupidly believed they were ready to take the next step and rise above the usual excuses.
My predictions were based on the two team lineups I saw, and what I saw was an inexperienced but talented group versus the worst performed 22 in the competition, despite their age and experience advantage.
None of the factors you raise are any excuse for lack of effort, or being unprepared. Nuffies like us on an internet forum knew they'd come out breathing fire and would try to hit us hard, yet our players were still surprised and barely raised a whimper in response.
Not to mention that we should be well beyond the point of relying on 30+ year olds who are nearing the end of their careers to do the heavy lifting for us.
And the Mabo/vibe thing was a joke. Just a way of saying I couldn't be arsed writing a long essay about why I felt today's game was very winnable and a crucial stepping stone. But I guess I've just gone and done it now.
Overall, given we're in the Bolton thread, games like today are the definition of coach-killers.
That’s a lot of words, all of which don’t correlate with where exactly where we are right now.
We have a lot of good younguns but they are young and can’t do it all themselves. And we have very few in between. Then take out more experience. Well there was no chance we would ever match an old team like north. They are old and inept. Yeah, they can beat us. And other young sides. They are full of big bodies who will never win a premiership. Their coach is a nut. They have stocked up on B grade older player. Big deal. I’ll eat a kipper stuffed with dirty socks if they win a premiership before us.
Down hill skiers.
Yup. Better than us but big whoop. They’re cauliflower.
