Liked what MacLure was saying last night and don't mind the Big Footy talk about that person being Thomas. Our forwards are like headless chooks and we need someone putting them in the right spots, telling them where to run and when to go.

It was a good discussion
Don't think Simpson is the right person
But you don't need Casboult

Maybe Wright was more influential than we guess as an experienced head in the forward line.

I thought maybe weitering would be brilliant for that. Once Williamson and McReadie are back. Take the discipline learnt from back and apply it to forwards.

So you want to disrupt the only line that has been working very effectively this year, by pulling our full back out and putting him into our forward line, adding another tall forward into a structure that already has three of them.

Frighteningly, it's probably an option the MC have considered

Anyway. I actually like the idea of Thomas. He's a smart footballer and while he's not exactly quick he can get to the right spots and will apply pressure in F50 when the ball hits the deck.

nooooo. weiters is becoming a legits monster at the back. that's where he reads the game the best and has the most impact. he had a shocker last season (and imo) it was all due to the disruption of playing forward & back. no continuity.

He said our forwards were directionless. King showed some vision of our forwards running to the wrong spots. MacLure said when he was a young forward there was a general telling everyone what to do, and then he became that general. MacLure wanted Simpson to be the general, King was saying Charlie should be.

if the talk about charlie's slow start is bcos of a big offseason on the turps ... it probs shouldn't be charlie.

i think the club were hoping fasolo would be that voice, and a more prolific version of wright.

Simpson is probably the best pointer at the club.

Thanks. Well, I agree Thomas can play that role and also Id like to see him as a small forward anyway. Perhaps that could free up Gibbons to actually play as a midfielder, which I understand is a role he is far more suited to!

With the lack of runners now, someone has to be telling our forwards where to go as they are struggling to do it on their own. They all have the skills.

Yep - all of the forward group should be contributing with the "general" role. No reason why each person can't contribute, you know what they say, there is no i in team :)

The problem with this is that none of the forwards are experienced enough to be a general, that was Sellers point. You need someone experienced like Simpson or Thomas.

That would be the worst position change in the history of position changes, possibly ever

Mmm. I heard him on SEN yesterday with KB and gee he was great. So switched on and articulate. Not at all clincal though..very warm. I guess I was thinking mainly of his obvious smarts and leadership ability.
Fair point though. McLure mentioned Simmo for the role... both he and Daisy are valuable contributors downfield though.
given the feedback it is a good thing I am not on match day selection committee! :yikes:  :fight:
