He says Amos has done well with the backs.

Doesn't mention the forward coach. But he mentions the disconnect with ball use forward of centre.

By not mentioning the forward coach he's essentially pointing the finger.

Or the midfield coach. Depends on your POV I suppose.

The subtle blame game.

Bolts is the senior coach, end of story, he cant blame anyone except himself, if he doesn't like the look of something he can change it, he can send out a runner when the opposition get a goal if he wants to change it quickly, or wait until we get one if he's in no hurry.

Oh, another positive - no injuries coming out of the weekend. It’s no substitute for winning but for us to get close to fielding the team we want in the 2nd half of the year we need a decent run with injuries. Hopefully it’s the start of a period where we finally have some luck in that regard.

And I’m looking forward to some guys we’ve seen little of in the past 12 months or so - Cunningham, Williamson, Macreadie & Pickett - transition back into playing regularly.

Now I'm just whinging about staring into the sun all afternoon - why they have afternoon games up here I will never know.

Jones was very impressive live, glad I got to see him in action.

actually like a lot of our defense today.

But thats about it

Everyone talks about how we can't kick 100. Well the stats show we are scoring less than last year. We've gone backwards.

2018 ave 61.5 for and 103.73 against

2019 ave 66.75 for and 84.25 against

Don't bother Effes. They're too busy making shit up to worry about the truth.
Hell, apparently reducing scores against is now a negative.

This.

Plowman's 'effort' at the death was deplorable.

Even if we had got across the line it'd have been a hollow win. The brand of football we are playing is just so awful.

Thoroughly enjoyed that battle. Close, but no cigar. Mistakes made, but this side is nowhere near settled yet. Lots to like and can clearly see the formation of premiership team in the making. Just got to stick fat and persevere until success is reached.

I was at the ground and enjoyed the contest too. Two sides who are not going to play finals but it was an enthralling battle from where I sat.

Blues flubbed opportunities, but so did GC. I think the (slightly) better side won.

On the whole, I thought our backline did well; Jones, Weitering, Thomas, Newman, Plowman, Marchbank & Simmo are forming a solid combination.

We’re nowhere near as far advanced at the other end; Harry, Charlie & McGovern are yet to click as a combination and we’re screaming out for a quality small forward. I don’t know how GC managed to take so many marks in our forward 50 with Harry, Charlie, McGovern & Levi in the side  Our delivery into the forward line is a key part of the problem but I also reckon the positioning of our key forwards needs improvement.

As Idle said, our side is nowhere near settled and there were some positives. If we had been flogged I might consider joining in the weeping and gnashing of teeth; but I’m more disappointed than disheartened.

How do you pick 500 talls and bomb it long over and over again to a hopeless midget?

Such stupidity

SPS stagnated
Dow backwards
Weitering back to his 1st year form
LOB backwards
Murphy Thomas Simmo same same
Harry 2 steps forward 2 back
Liam forward
Plowman same same

Yep, totally reminded me of the Dixon game. At least that Hawks team were half-decent though.

Think I'm fuming even more over this result.

What a waste.

A handful of players need a character test before they're allowed to play next week (okay, maybe not, but it sure feels like it). Some have poise, some don't.

I knew we were gone at 3/4 time. We were totally blowing our fwd entries and using up our petrol tix. Knew they'd come home with the climate. Still, we almost held them off and still found ridiculous ways to lose.

I usually try to be positive or keep my nose out of here generally, but this loss really really hurts. I'm not convinced that's the case with some of our players.

You're right about the blowtorch though.

sounds like the malthouse days

but harry has improved
walsh will be a star
cripps has improved
weiters improved on last year
fisher had a good game

dont get me wrong, i am very negative at the moment regarding this club, and i agree the flair is being coached out of them, particulalrly considering the team was coached better in bolt's first year, but there are improvements

I hate to say it but I was annoyed for about 5 minutes. Then I was over it

That's what supporting this footy club this century has done to me

One of the most (of many) disappointing things today was the total lack of leadership and composure from our senior players.

Murphy, Thomas, E Curnow, Simpson, Casboult - Is it any wonder our team is filled with timid, introverted kids who make poor decisions and look devoid of confidence?

The other clubs in the cellar with us have their experienced players setting the example for the next generation to follow. The final minutes in particular showed the contrast between both sides today.

Cripps, Weitering, Harry, SPS et al - You need to stop relying on these guys to lead the way, and take the @#$%&! horns yourself.
