Losing to gc by 2pts is pretty much equivalent to a 10 goal loss to decent sides. There’s just no excuse for it.

yup. only carlton could lose to a team that was expected to not win a game for the year. good thing we swapped our first round pick.

i have supported this club since the days of the fold out memberships, and i bought my daughter a membership before she got a birth certificate, but i can no longer support this club. there is no direction, no belief, no skills present, no heart

ratts was never going to lead us to a premiership, but since he was sacked, the club has been running in quicksand, this is not the club I grew up supporting, the whole lot can go and....
If Ratts has SOS as his List Manager rather than that dud Wayne Hughes we never know what might've happened.
true Jim, but i dont think his game plan wss strong enough, albeit better than the tripe we have now. once we had injuries, it was exposed. but if wishes were fishes...
Yes, but we would've had better depth with proper recruiting as that was the issue. Great at the top end but dropped off.

It's funny how certain things follow clubs through different coaches and players {culture?}. For example, we seem to have been the worst club protecting or trying to snatch a lead late for decades

The saddest part of today was the predictability of the ending.

I somehow think losing it benefits us more than winning it....a win would have papered over big issues. A blowtorch can't hurt.

I can't believe how bad Gold Coast were and yet they are 3 and 1

GC, Saints and Brisbane have all won 3 games, we are back where we belong.

With 5 min to go you could sense some how we would lose today, hard to turn such a losing culture over such a long time.

As I’ve said before
Our recruiting and list management is
Still terrible
Setterfield is average
Gave away 2 players to get him
McGovern is overrated
Played 10 minutes
Gave up 3 picks for him
And then there’s Fasolo

We play with spirit
Bolton hasn’t got the socks to pick up
Too many slow players
Too many average players from other clubs recruited by SOS
and his team

We have a couple of stars and not much else
Our list hasn’t improved much from 2015
And that ain’t Bolton’s fault
That’s SOS and his recruiting team
and most importantly the board that appointed him

Correctamundo.

Gibbons...getting more an more involved the last two weeks. Could easily have kicked 2. OK, he didnt, but he's busting a gut to improve.
Dow...poor disposal and decision making. Getting involved in the contest so I'm happy for him to stay in the firsts. The composure will come
SPS...cruising. Needs a spell
Cripps...at the risk of shooting Bambi, we all know his strengths but his decision making when bringing the ball inside 50 cost us at least 2 opportunities to score goals
Ed...go back to tagging and tagging only

Jones was sensational, Weitering rock solid

Bolton has to go. Whether it’s his fault or not there has to be a change and unfortunately for him sacking the coach is the most obvious outcome. The club need a circuit breaker

He has to stay the year at least.
He was given a three year rebuild. He's two years and four weeks in. If we sack him, he has every right to say he wasn't allowed his full three years.
This was a shit loss and the game plan is crap. If Wallsy and the other coaches can't get him to play modern footy then at the end of the year, if we haven't improved on-field, he goes.

He was appointed on 25 August 2015. This is his 4th year.

Gold Coast have lost one game by one point, won three by three points, five points and two points.

Trash. Decision making putrid. Walked out of the game just as flat as I did on that Saturdayy night back in 2012 - the ‘Brett Ratten Memorial Shield.’ Been a quiet car ride home.

Is Dew the difference in all of that?

getting the team to play above its pay grade and win when they probs shouldn't?

Ed and Murphy at the end failed to do the business.

I'd like to say I expect better from them in those situations but...

Thoroughly enjoyed that battle. Close, but no cigar. Mistakes made, but this side is nowhere near settled yet. Lots to like and can clearly see the formation of premiership team in the making. Just got to stick fat and persevere until success is reached.

I was at the ground and enjoyed the contest too. Two sides who are not going to play finals but it was an enthralling battle from where I sat.

Blues flubbed opportunities, but so did GC. I think the (slightly) better side won.

On the whole, I thought our backline did well; Jones, Weitering, Thomas, Newman, Plowman, Marchbank & Simmo are forming a solid combination.

We’re nowhere near as far advanced at the other end; Harry, Charlie & McGovern are yet to click as a combination and we’re screaming out for a quality small forward. I don’t know how GC managed to take so many marks in our forward 50 with Harry, Charlie, McGovern & Levi in the side  Our delivery into the forward line is a key part of the problem but I also reckon the positioning of our key forwards needs improvement.

As Idle said, our side is nowhere near settled and there were some positives. If we had been flogged I might consider joining in the weeping and gnashing of teeth; but I’m more disappointed than disheartened.

I'll have whatever your having

We were getting flogged by 10 goals not too long ago - remember those days? Yes losing by 2 points hits hard, but perspective matters. We are improving. Our loses are close, frustrating for sure, but not 10 goal beatings. That's improvement. We'll start winning these close games eventually. Summed up we've been a bit unlucky to be four/zip and our future looks promising at long last.

Our losses are close because we hug the boundary. It's why we don't score. And don't win.

I think much of our problems stem from a lack of belief

Bound to happen when you lose so many games

We have given Bolton way too much latitude over the last 4 years

This rubbish about green shoots simply masked how inept we have been over an extended period

Placed way too much faith in being patient and things will eventually turn

Doesn't work that way. And whatever happened to the 66 game rebuild. No one mentions it anymore. Demonstrated to me that we have no idea what we are doing.

66 game rebuild and the result is 0-4.
Awesome.
What a joke of a club.

McGovern stays on the goal line like he should have and we win. One action with 13 seconds left and the entire result and opinions would be completely different.

Here's a tip. With pick 3 you should pick someone who can kick.

Pretty obvious prerequisite I'd have thought. SOS has to take responsibility for that one. Dow is Ed Curnow level by foot.
