I’ll be there. The fixture coincides with a family holiday to the Gold Coast - I’m taking my 5 year old daughter to her first game!

No, but I'll be going down for this game.

Rabble with some talent but no team mindset, and a coach that has lost 32 of the last 35 games.

Everyone will say be patient, don’t be the old Carlton who just sacked blokes..

You know what the old Carlton won. We didn’t constantly bang on about green shoots and pine for number one draft picks.

We were ruthless.

The game is only about winning. There is nothing else in footy at the elite level.

This.

The old Carlton sakced coaches. The old Carlton won matches.

The new Carlton won't sakc coaches. The new Carlton can't win matches.

Yeah, sacking Brittain, Pagan, Ratten & Malthouse really turned things around for us.

Can't accept 3 wins from 35 matches either.

And, yes, sacking Pagan did turn things around. Went to dead set sit to finals 2 years later. Our issues is picking the wrong coaches. Two stubborn old dinosaurs who couldn't move with the times, and two coaches who had played the same number of AFL games as the rest of us on here....none. There was one coach who did do well though, young, had played, had coached his own side that did a good job for the only period since 2001.

I began a post trying a rebuttal, but then thought I can’t argue with the facts posted above.

I don’t think Bolton not playing an AFL game is the problem, Fagan looks like he’s going ok at Brisbane.

One could say we erred in sacking Brittain, Bolts I still don’t know if he can or can’t coach.

This is the first year we have a large contingent on field who should be around for a while. It will take time to build cohesion.

If we don’t win this one...

We have been comprehensively beaten in the ruck three weeks in a row in a new era where centre clearances lead to scoring opportunities.
GCS have Witts, who is one of the best rucks in the comp. We will get flogged in the centre unless our mids can rove to Witts instead of Lobbe. Can we play Levi as first ruck and have Harry as a backup? It won't make a difference in the middle but he can at least mark the footy.

This is a line in the sand game but they routinely beat us and next week I think it will happen again.

We need to bring Garlett back in for h is pace and play him forward but it won't happen because it will look like it was a mistake to drop him in the first place. LOB was a WOFTAM today and shouldn't get a game next week. Gibbons hasn't adjusted to the pace and looks like another Jordan Doering who was a sensational VFL player but that was it. Kennedy might be the one to replace him.
Jack for McGovern.

Play Harry out of the square and tell him to lead at the ball carrier. Tell the ball carrier to kick it to a lead instead of to a three on one pack.

I am not at all confident we can knock them over with the way we play.

On that first aspect we won the centre clearances 16-11 and the overall clearance 44-37. That's the figure that matters there.

That doesn't mean we won the ruck. I know you aren't a believer in hit outs to advantage and we will have to agree to disagree. Winning centre clearances has to do with the Cripps factor, not the ruck. We went a lot better when their bloke was off twice with the blood rule.
Collingwood, for example with Grundy rucking, win clearances with their mids running towards the goals from the tap. Many of ours are running backwards to a handball and then the kick forward. That's because we are 'roving' to a losing ruck. By then the 6-6-6 advantage is a lot smaller. Numbers are just numbers without the next level of scrutiny.
Imagine having Cripps in the centre bounce with Witts in the ruck for us. The clearance numbers would be even better. Around the ground is also because of the midfield grunt of Cripps. The congestion there is not affected by the 6-6-6. I am seriously hoping TDK continues his development. He looks like he will be pretty good based on the write ups. Of course I haven't seen him play.

Enjoy the game. I look forward to your comments afterwards.

Exactly and it's also the clearances forward to advantage that would change with a better ruck. And as you've allured to, they would start running forward at the bounce. Our mids are still too small also and can easily be pushed off the ball, like Crippa does to other mids. Our middle is a catch 22 at the moment. If we had Ed in there, we would be better off, but then we lose a good small forward. This leads to the big question here, who is our no.1 tagger?? Could Lang fill this role when he returns?

I think this is a moot point, worth acknowledging but right now we don’t have anyone on our list who is anywhere near Witts or Grundy in rucking ability.

Lobbe is our fourth choice ruck and we shouldn’t expect too much from him, he’s there to give the guys in the VFL a chance to work with an experience ruck.

We're gonna struggle bigtime. But we'll find many positives out of the loss.

Our only chance is if Gold Coast have a very easy and comfortable win against the Bulldogs.

I have been trying to tell y'all the Suns are no longer easy beats. It will be a great achievement if we can beat them at their home ground.

This is our least likely win of the season so far.

We should draw hope from the development of Suns and Lions. We are not far behind. And we will sustain it when we get there. I

Suns won't win a game the experts said... They could've been 3-0
