... but fk me. there's a bunch of no name players that seemingly have come from no where and aren't contributing, they're totally bossing it. geelong's player development is something else. even henderson looks like a premiership player over there.

it made me wonder with all of our recognisable top-tier talent here ... what a club like geelong would do with it, and where they'd be on the trajectory curve if they were us right now. would they be a 10 win team this season? more? less??

trivial fact:

the cats haven't had a top 10 draft pick in over a decade ... and the fact they're always there abouts is testament to developing players to play to their ability and in some cases exceed it.

what they're doing is second to none, really.

Not sure what game you were watching, but Henderson's spudding it up there just as much as he did for us.

Agree, they seem to develop well but it's far easier for their younger players to look good around a team they've been able to put together with free agents, father-son favourites and concessions.

How do you reckon Walsh or Dow would look running around with Danger, Ablett and Selwood? ;-)

They've recently taken Dalhaus from the 'dogs, Tuohey from us...

Add....Gary Rohan too.

It's pretty easy for kids to look good in a side with that much experience, just like what the Hawks do. I think Braithy forgets they did a rebuild of their own back in the early 2000's which set the club up for years, much like the Hawks did. But I still believe eventually when the old boys drop off the perch they will fold like a house made of cards. Let's hope it's us that are one of the new teams to have a near 20 year good run, especially with the talent and depth we are building now.

BTW: Henderson was awesome, especially when he kick the ball out of bounds on the full....oh and......yeah, he was as crap as he was for us. Sorry Braithy, I didn't see what you seen.

IMO Henderson was good for us as a defender. Just not as a forward

Maybe Jarrod Garlett as a running half back should never have continued into the season proper or at least round 2.
If Marchbank gets injured driving to the ground tomorrow nobody will be surprised let alone be unable to play out the game.
At Docklands the side is to tall and slow, everybody can see it just not Bolts.

in all my years of being around the VFL/AFL ... it's never been easy for kids to walk into a senior team and look good and play like they belong outta the gates. no part of it is easy. the fact these cat's kids do, and do it consistently from lower draft picks, is pretty mind blowing.

if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. We've had eleventy 1st picks and we've not amounted to anything in two decades.

Harry taylor kicked it out of bounds twice. it happens. Henderson was solid across half back. 5 intercept marks, 14 disposals, lots of off the ball work.

Coach Bolton much prefers to talk about getting a 'result' rather than getting a 'win'.

:?

To bad or not to bad.
Is that the question?

Mark Robinson wrote an article in today's HUN.
Headlines read is Walls there as a mentor or spy? What is Walls really doing at Carlton?
I thought, here we go again.
But when you read it it is a pretty reasonable article and says the relationship between Walls and Bolton is really good and Bolton does not see him as a threat.
Not a bad read.

I'd much rather be us.
