You had your fun in the past Synbad. Unfortunately for you, that's over now. It might take some time for you to adjust, but keep working at it. I've noticed a marked improvement in the last month or so. Keep going lad. You'll be right.

Dunno why youre all selective about what you call the moderators in for.. its clear not even you likes yourself......

Why bother asking, Mrs Caz.

You know you want to.

How about jsut deleting the last 6 pages or so?

back on to the thread I am surprised that people still see Whitnall as a forward. Is that because of the Swans game or from some other game?

I thought he got moved from the forward line to the back because he was getting beaten up there, and not because we were getting beaten back there if you know what i mean. He kicked 3 goals after round 12, so maybe that was when he was moved. Up until then he had 5 against the Swans and 4 each against Brisbane and Essendon*, two teams he has a great record against. other than those 3 games, he kicked 11 goals for the whole year. hardly the return of a forward.

So to bring the topic back:

* Is Whitnall now a defender who will have occasional stints forward?
* Or is Whitnall still a forward and will return forward in 2006?

Either way, at age 26 and with our young key positions coming through I reckon Whitnall will need some big years on his current contract to keep his spot for 2008.

Dont forget the 'smart flanker role' he can do that...

We lack a player we can give $400k to play the smart flanker ...

Evbery club needs one of those.

Look, the game is different now.
Its faster and more athletic than ever before.
Clubs are constantly searching for pace and players that can run all day and can go with their man.Because if you dont go with your man,., the way the game is played today youll just get ripped apart.

Lance was shifted out of the forward line and into the backline as the spare man because we played a defensive style of football all season.. where we were so bad (because we had too many players in the middle that wouldnt go with their immediate man) that the ball would just be catapulted out of a defence that consisted of Lance and Fev. (both not known for their defensive work) through the midfield which had Stevens Scotland Kouta and Campo.. none of those cared that much about their immediate man).. Kouta and Campo being the biggest offenders)... straight to our weak defence...

Lance played as he liked on occasions because he wasnt asked to hard tag any forwards. When he did he was crushed!!...

But keep in mind we didnt offer a threat so there was no need to curb Lance either.

Lance would be a handy spare parts player for a team that already has the guts.He is a luxury player. If youre main forwards are tagged he can break loose from a third/ fourth defender and be damaging.

But surely we cant afford that in our position right now.. and if the board had any guts we would have had a player like Dempsey whos pace we need.Dempsey might or might not be a star.. but Lance wont take us there either...

sometimes you need to take a punt for the future.

Surely we didn't sign him on that money to play a loose man in defence. I don't know what the plans are for Lance but it wouldn't make sense to pay him that money to play as a loose man. My understanding was he was dropped back there to help out because Thornton and Livo were getting there asses handed to them.

Maybe then Lance can play FB????

If Livo and T Bird were having their backsides handed to them.. maybe we should look at playing Lance on Lloyd or Hall or Gehgrig???

Hed star on those types of players wouldnt he????

Lance had a position created for him....loose man in defence... thats all he was.

But remember nobody we played cared about Lance enough to play anyone on him....

I agree with you Synbad he can't play on any forward as he is too slow. Thats why I think we must have plans to keep him up forward.

The Game.. were going to rue the decision to keep him.

Its a new game now.

Blokes as slow as Lance are finished.
Unless of course he was 195cms and can take a pack mark.
Russell Jordan and Andrew Walker are taller than him...

The 190cms player who lacks legs is finished.... unless he has more tricks than sticking out his bum to shepherd away a defender to give himself time to take a mark.

Or he is on 180k and playing as a fourth tall for a great side.

There is no obvious spot for Lance and he will get crucified out there if things hot up.

So Lance is crap, Kouta's no good, Campo was obviously no good. Did you not see how shit we've been for the last few years? What would you have us do? trade them all for picks and not win a game all year?? I'm all for re building but there has to be a limit. Many coaches and many members of match committees have seen alot in Lance, not sure it's as simple as "he's too slow, cut him"
