I suppose that's aimed at me, seeing as I sunk the boot into him.
He directly cost us two goals through lack of awareness and stupid footy.
1. Gave away a free in our forward pocket by slinging a player when the ball was already dead. The ball went straight down the other end for a goal.
2. was in a two on one on the boundary and instead of letting it go out, handballed without looking straight to a Port player who was less than two metres away and it went down for a goal.
He doesn't go the long option when it's on. Once yesterday he kicked a beautiful long range ball to advantage but he usually gets caught out trying the short stuff as his first option.
If you want to look at someone who knows how to play footy and has since day one, look at Pendelbury. SPS is no less skilled on both sides but Pendlebury lopes along and gets the ball out of the congestion whereas SPS ends up on hi sleft too much and then goes the short option to a contest.
I have said all along he could be anything and when he has the footy he can make things happen but he doesn't and he isn't Robinson Crusoe.
Cripps is ne of the best players in the comp but he did two little-league things yesterday that were just dumb.
1. he marked the footy more or less on the fifty, ten metres from the boundary and didn't play on, which was probably OK but he went back for his kick and then passed it to someone who was further out than the man on the mark and closer to the boundary. It was the act of someone who took the easy option instead of the best one. Later in the game, he had a free in the centre and he just gently lobbed into a nest of PA players for an uncontested mark inside our F50.
My question is why do good players do dumb stuff like that? It's all very well to make mistakes under pressure, even the best of plaers do that but three of those four incidents I mentioned were not under any pressure at all and one was a lack of awareness.
I don't hate any of our players but I do hate this acceptance from the players, the coach and an increasing number of the supporters on here of a performance like that where we should have been able to go with them in the last. It was pathetic. They gave up after Gray kicked that first goal.
