Yes, just a quick detour but we were great against Freo in the AFLW Prelim - I wouldn’t mind a bit of that run and carry in the men’s game plan!
Actually, saw us try it with some but limited success against the Tigers.
If we can do that whilst maintain our defensive structures we will win quite a few more games than last year!

Lucky we still have Jones. Over there will be difficult given how well they played in Melbourne.

The Power might expect the same effort to be displayed at home, but not deliver.
They may take it for granted.

Carlton play a more pressure game than the cocky Demons.

I'm expecting a close one.

Indeed.

Went to match yesterday Port were very impressive very quick and strong at the ball
Good to see the Hoff murdering another team
Gray will be handful
Phillips will have work cut out for him with Lycett and Ryder worked Gawn over yesterday
Melbourne stuttered and spluttered a bit like Collingwood Friday night

With injuries to the following 7 players the cupboard seems bare.

Docherty
Kreuzer
marchbank
Silvagni
Pickett
Williamson
Kennedy

Whilst our list is looking better in terms of class and potential, players like Stocker, DeKoning, OBrien and polson are not really knocking the door down. In the same boat imo is Kennedy, especially given he did not play senior footy in JLT or NBs praccy game on Thursday.

If Kreuzer is ready to play, he may be considered. Philips didnt set the world on fire with 9 disposals and 1 mark. His tackling was good though.
Maybe a change in the ruck vs Ryder may be 1 change.

Garlett and Fasolo did not fill me with too much excitement in the positions they played. But who takes their positions as a small forward and a HBF?

We have to wait for a while for Williamson and Marchbank to return to the backline.

Jack was the only form player of note to miss round 1 with injury. He may be recalled at the expense of one of Fasolo and Garlett.

Otherwise, may be NO CHANGE, and we reset and go again, with Charlie firing instead of the rubbish he gave us on Thursday.

Port are a very inconsistent side, wouldn't know whether they'll play like they did yesterday again which is finals caliber or put in an absolute shocker.

Stocker and DeKoning are injured as well.

I really hope we don’t rush Kruezer back in again, get time to prove his fitness in the twos instead, Phillips body is much more robust at the moment. I’d be much more worried if they target Mackay.

Port will be quite challenging, listening to Bolton I think Kruezer may pplay and that’s about it for changes until we regain some players.

What did he say?

I'm a fan of the 2 rucks.
I don't like losing Harry in the ruck for long periods. Stuffs up our forward structure and weapons.

When Phips or Kreuzer take a rest I only want McKay rucking in the centre square ball up not running around the ground: leave that to someone else , albeit shorter.

In a few weeks time, all the talking heads will start the usual commentary about how the ladder often doesn’t change much after about round a 7 or 8 (apart from last year of course).
I was just looking at the ladder today and was wondering how we’d feel if the ladder ended up like this at the end i of the year?

Highlights:
We finish 14th
Essendon* on ithe bottom
We are above Adelaide (re the Stocker live trade)
GWS win he flag - which is nice for them, a good brand of footy to watch but also rubs salt into Shiel’s wounds from leaving for the Dons

Thoughts?

I think it’s extremely important as to how the season pans out for us that we get early wins on the board ...

Hopefully Port figures out that losing to us actually hurts Adelaide :)
