You'd assume with Fasolo and MM coming to the club, then JSOS will be moving to either the back or the middle. If he goes to the back then does that release the Doc to the middle??

So:

Mullett, O'Shea, Wright gone. Setterfield, McGovern, Fasolo in.

Walsh for Byrne (?)

Kerridge/Lamb/Rowe/Casboult/Graham/Pickett vs. Pick 43 / Delisted Free Agents?

Yeah, I still think both Cripps and Bolts would be pretty keen for some extra senior midfield support. The question now is where it's going to come from. Libba would be a great match age/talent wise, so long as they're not too concerned by the off-field rumours. I guess, Bugg might be a chance. Or perhaps even Dunstan, if we get really desperate (just hope we wouldn't give up anything more than a 3rd pick).

Can't see SOJ playing back alongside of Plowman, Marchbank and Weitering. Not to mention Jones.

You'd think our failure to get Shiel might push Docherty into midfield. But our backline was so dysfunctional without him this year, not sure we can afford to do so.

Just wondering, don't know if its been clarified anywhere but if that deal for McGovern goes through what does that currently leave Carlton to go to the draft with? (Assuming 42 is wrapped up in Setterfield deal)

If its pick 1 and then crickets, does that mean there's likely to be a firesale to get back in to early draft selections in this supposed "super draft"? Casboult and Jones hardly likely to yield high value are they?

Also isn't there a minimum number of draft selections that clubs need to select?

- We’ll get a future 3rd in the Gov trade
- Future 2nd will be traded for Setters (leaving us with a 1st and 3rd for 2019)
- Re: Levi/Liam, I could see them going as a package deal together (or either with 42) for a 2nd round pick this year or next if someone (such as GC) is really keen.

I’m pretty certain of the first two, speculating on the third.

Not sure how I feel about this.

Harry, Charlie, Gov and Fasolo - slowest forward line in the competition? Where is the maniacal tackling pressure and locking the ball in.

Cripps, Kennedy, Setterfield, Walsh, Ed - slowest midfield in the competition?

Or am I overthinking it

This time next year I suspect we will be glad that Shiel didn't choose us. We will have our early first rounder plus plenty of room in the cap. Shiel would have given us a nice sugar hit however wouldn't have got us to No 17.

Kennedy, Darling, Le Cras and Vardy look slow as @#$%&! on paper as well ...

Curnow, McKay and Gov can all move very well for key position size players. Someone like Pickett very important to overall forward line mix

Agree the midfield needs some more zip

Fisher and SPS can be quite evasive and Dow is no slouch. O'Brien a smooth mover.

Assuming Graham is cut and Byrne gone, plus Walsh is our man and Setterfield gets done -- a 22 that's 25 years old or under:

B: Plowman, Weitering, O'Brien
HB: Williamson, Marchbank, Docherty
C: Petrevski-Seton, Cripps, Cuningham
HF: Pickett, C Curnow, J Silvagni
F: McGovern, McKay, Lang
Foll: DeKoning, Fisher, Dow
Int: Kennedy, Setterfield, Walsh, Garlett
Emerg: Polson, Kerr, Schumacher, B Silvagni/Hickmott/Macreadie

Have we got any picks left for Setterfield and BSOS?

Future 2nd for Setters
Pick 42 or (preferably) picks in 60s for BSOS

No matter how hard some of you try to twist it into a positive, fact is we’ve given away a fair bit already without doing anything to strengthen our biggest weakness (the midfield) so far this trade period. Unless McGovern is going to go through the midfield. More injury prone players that aren’t pure mids. Fasolo fmd.....really.

Just wondering if Adelaide would swap picks 8, 13 and 21 (3,641 pts) for pick 1 (3,000 pts). Would it be a good deal for us? Miss out on potentially one super star for potentially three good to very good players.

2002: Brendan Goddard for Luke Brennan, Byron Schammer and Bo Nixon
2003: Adam Cooney for Raph Clarke, Brent Stanton and Alex Gilmour
2004: Brett Deledio for John Meesen, Matthew Bate and Tom Murphy
2005: Marc Murphy for Jarrad Oakley Nicholls, Shannon Hurn and Danny Stanley
2006: Bryce Gibbs for Ben Reid, Jack Riewoldt and Gavin Urqhuart
2007: Matthew Kreuzer for Lachie Henderson, Brad Ebert and Addam Maric
2008: Jack Watts for Ty Vickery, Tom Lynch (Adel) and Hayden Ballantyne
2009: Tom Scully for John Butcher, Daniel Talia and Ryan Bastinac
2010: David Swallow for Dyson Heppell, Seb Tape and Jed Lamb
2011: Jonathan Patton for Billy Longer, Taylor Adams and Tom Mitchell (F/S)
2012: Lachie Whitfield for Sam Mayes, Jesse Lonergan, Nathan Hrovat
2013: Tom Boyd for Luke McDonald, Patrick Cripps and Jarman Impey

Not too many there I'd prefer the latter outcome.

I would never entertain giving up a top 3 draft pick personally.

You are always better of with a few elite players than a handful of b+ players

I think this is an important point...

Maybe I'm overthinking it but is there any reason to get back into 2nd round if potentially 2 F/S are on the table?

Essentially after pick 1, if we are left with 4th and 5th round picks, it means the F/S picks dont get contested too early.

Would Hickmott and BSOS be rated by other teams higher than 4th /5th round? If so then SOS has essentially got them on the cheap...

Is it therefore smarter to use 2nd/3rd rounds on trades so that SOS is effectively paying unders for the F/S?

Is that right?
