Apart from the Essendon* game, there has not been one game this year where I thought we had a chance of winning. And we were fortunate to beat Essendon*. Those honourable losses have only glossed over the major problems we are now facing.

I cannot think of another team in recent history that has been that bad.

Can't afford another year like this. The brand has been smashed with comparisons to Fitzroy of the 90s. Without any genuine hope the club is at its lowest ebb.

I think Bolton will only have one more season to start turning this around.

Collingwood have had just as many if not more yet they are sitting second on the ladder.
Maybe Bolton just cannot coach.

Which is exactly what they've said about Buckley for the past three years. But they are second. Guess all the people saying Buckley couldn't coach were wrong.

Collingwood like North Melbourne’s have had a dream fixture (run).

Really? Which teams have they played that we haven’t?

Not sure where else to post this so Mods can shift it to the thread they see fit;

As I understand Carltonians and other major Coterie groups have been summoned to the club tonight at 6.30pm, for an “Information Session”.

Getting smashed by Brisbane means:

1. The AFL get some reprieve for one of their Qld love children and can sell hope that not all is lost up there
2. Our percentage drops even further so the AFL are forced to give us a PP (which I've always said is a distractor but that's another story that's been debated to death)
3. Guarantees us 100% pick 1

I'm still not sold on the selection rationale pre-game, Harry in the stands, the 'managing of Dow' THIS round, SImmo's withdrawal and three players benched during the game. I am not suggesting for one moment that Phillips, Marchbank and Weitering's issues weren't real but I am suggesting that the coaches took an overly cautious approach with them (unlike is their MO when players are rushed back)
Correct me if I'm wrong but did Phillips have ice on his hammy? I don't recall seeing it.

My son and I both agreed (and we always disagree on Carlton) that if we were playing Richmond at the 'G, we would not have been 10 goals down at 3/4 time.

Assuming our hypothesis is true, the question is, Why?????

As others have stated, I am still in the Bolton camp but I want to see significant improvement next year (at least 8 wins) otherwise, his time at Carlton will end come August 2019

If Bolton persists with the likes of Rowe when there are other tall defender options then he loses me.

Who are the other tall defender options?

With Docherty back next year....time for Marchbank and Weitering to take the 2 key positions. Time to step up.

Rowe can play in the 2s and teach from there

We had Jones, Weitering and Marchbank available on Saturday. WTF play Rowe ?

Sure, if we've only got one KPD available next week you pick Rowe, but otherwise he shouldn't be picked.

Dream fixture's only a dream fixture if you're good enough to beat someone/anyone.

I think they have been fab, and they have a tough run home.

10 of those wins have been against sides outside the 8, the other against Melbourne. They've lost to anyone decent. The test comes now, West Coast, Sydney, Port, Richmond, not in that order. Win some of those then, of course, it might be different.

Never seen a fixture open up for one side like this.

I don't think he's cut out for such a rebuild. Poorly drilled, no structure, poor development, poor, totally unbalanced team selection, game plan poor, players confused out there as to the role they are supposed to be playing. Things like that are the issue even with the injuries. Talented players like Weitering, SPS, and even SOS have no idea what role they are supposed to be playing. If we really try we can really destroy Weitering eventually. That's a coaching issue. We're likely to have one win, which will be our worst season in our long and proud history.

We can't pick coaches to save ourselves. It's either it inexperienced coaches, coaches who haven't played AFL previously, failed us twice now as it has always, at least with Victorian clubs, or stubborn, arrogant old pricks who used methods from a previous bygone era and wouldn't change. One did a good job but we sacked him.

All I’m clinging to at the moment is:

1. The fact that we have poor list depth, dreadfully exposed by our injuries, which would make it difficult for anyone to coach our side at the moment.
2. The fact that the general consensus used to be that Hardwick and Buckley couldn’t coach and both have had a lot longer to get there than Bolton.

Thankfully, I haven’t watched our efforts against Gold Coast, Freo or Brisbane, although I am equally as gutted as anyone else here that our performances in those games have been so poor.

I don’t believe sacking the coach is the right decision at this point, but it’s getting harder to keep faith in our club right now.

Friday night can’t come soon enough.

We’re currently paying $3.40, are you saying we should get on.
