It might be just a coincidence but currently the two side winless on the bottom of the ladder have coaches that have never played AFL/VFL
and I have had just a brief look and there hasn't been any coach that has won a premiership that has not played the game at the highest level

Is it also a coincidence that the 2 winless sides on the bottom of that ladder were bottom of the ladder sides when they took them over?
Sides with probably the worst lists?

Rome want built in a day. Were all of you people who now have concerns about Boltons AFL credentials voicing them when he took over?
Were you voicing them in his first year?

The internet is full of retrospective experts. I understand that some people are impatient and want immediate results but it gets a bit tedious when they come out with the same negative shit over and over again. Yes, you have concerns about Bolton. We get it. But seriously, if you don't have anything to add other than the same negative shit every day, why do you bother?
The only certainty out of the rebuild IMHO is the same people who are whinging about Bolton will be the first in the queue celebrating success when it comes.
And I have no doubt it will come.

You keep saying you know what we're all thinking, but you don't. You continue to misrepresent what we're saying. Our young top-line players aren't on 10 year contracts. We will have top teams going hard for them with buckets of cash. And playing for a side like Geelong, Richmond, Hawthorn, Adelaide will have great appeal for elite footballers looking to play finals footy. No one wants to be the next champion footballer who never played in the big dance.

If Bolts (& staff) don't turn us around soon in terms of wins and morale, that next step of players looking for other opportunities is inevitable.

I did. i've said it from the get go. Bolton isn't a physical presence, looking up at the players your coaching, you lose authority. and never playing the afl will be a handicap.

don't generalise. i'll be the first to happily admit i got it wrong when/ if we start winning things.

i doubt it. i honestly do doubt we'll hit the high tide mark of a GF appearance let alone more. i'm not convinced we're that much of a different club (from top to bottom) from when everyone said all we have to do is draft gibbs, murphy and krooz and we'll win.

I've no problem with the guy.

Failure will be down to the fact we have a second rate board and footy dept.

Get rid of him.

Personnel or no personnel, injuries whatever.

What on earth do we actually train? What are they being instructed to do?

Complete rabble.

If these wankers can't pick a side to suit modern footy then they can all flower off. I'm sick of it.

We make a very good case for a mid-season draft

Lots of kids with spudilicious delisted slow HBF's to take up the slack. The list is designed to fail and it's working beautifully.

Selecting an untried coach with no AFL playing experience - and only claim to fame being an assistant to Clarkson - for the toughest coaching gig in the modern era...crazy brave or just plain stupid?

Last I checked Bolton has won Premierships as a player and coach? As well as being assistant at the Hawks.

He knows what it takes to win.

Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger, Gregg Popovich and Bill Belichick just got lucky.

On the other hand, if they change the game back, we wil be ahead of the pack!

apples to oranges comparison.

plus you are using 4 of the best coaches/ managers ever. for each one of these guys, there are literally thousands of unsuccessful coaches who failed badly.

plus! saying bolton will be a popovich (greatest nba coach ever) of the afl is right up there with me declaring i'm winning powerball this thursday night. the odds are the same.

plus, plus! if you really wanted to bring analytics into it, the first 50 games of bolton's coaching career are far worse than the first 50 of Pop's, Belichicks and jose's. bolton is already and a far lesser trajectory.

Oh FFS, now he’s not tall enough to be a coach?

How the hell do all those “never played NBL 6 ft coaches” win championships in the NBL?

Because David Beckham at 16 wasn’t in awe of Alex Ferguson because Fergie was a genius with the ball.

I had the pleasure of chatting with LOB at the season launch. He spoke glowingly of Bolts, his teaching methods but also that he’s a man you do not want to cross and that he could kill with a look.

Everything I’ve seen of Bolts tells me he is a leader.

And as for the apples to oranges dismissal of the experience argument. It’s simply proof of how far behind AFL is from other sports in the world.

Explains why Warnock was uncoachable I guess.....
