Pros

- A few late wins to Weiters, hopefully helps his confidence

I agree - it was good to see him finish off the game in a composed manner.
Hopefully his form will improve from here on.

Seriously worried about where Bolton is taking us. We keep this up and we will lose players like Curnow, Fisher etc. Missing Gibbs and Doc is killing us IMO.

and we have a lack of speed. Too many plodders.

As Bolts says, you can't get too high or too low.

We've got half of it right.

We're definitely not getting to high.

I cry myself to sleep after I watch Carlton play.

Polson clearly not up to it.
Lamb offers very little.

I liked Cunningham's game.

Polson looked alot like Cunningham in his early days
Polson needs game time game time game time
Cunningham is now starting to feel as though he belongs

Cunninghams had a decent first three game:
Average 10 disposals (4 contested)
Average 73% efficiency
Average 5 tackles

Then why was he one of Bolton's whipping boys, rotting in the ressies when others at AFL level were being gifted games

Tough question with no easy answer.
A case can easily be mounted to say we could have showed a little more faith.
But equally he did play 8 games last year and his averages of 13 possessions and 65% efficiency weren't really enough to guarantee his spot each week. His VFL numbers were decent but he didn't really smash down the door to get back in when he was out.

Overall I love the way he moves and really hope he goes from strength to strength.

Polsen is small and light without the positives our other small light players have.
Doesn't have Fish's speed or willingness/ability to tackle
Doesn't have Cunningham's evasive skills and vision.
Doesn't have Murphy's ability to rack up high possessions.

Just dropped into a small cafe in Nice to get the scores. Je suis triste. Another long season ahead. At least here the sky is blue, the sun is shining and it is warm.

Until the club fixes the skill level it won't matter if they have the greatest game plan any Coach ever invented.

Collingwood didn't have to win the ball, it just waited for us to give it back to them 3 or 4 touches down the park. Either that or wait until the ball was kicked to 3 on 1 to poor Charlie and then just rebound from Half Back.

Out skills are deplorable. Just when we get on a roll and move the ball forward through the middle, 1 of the 22 can't hit the side or a barn by hand or foot. Then woosh, turnover, and a goal chance imminent.

It is so, so disheartening to watch over and over.

It is a sorry, sad state of affairs.

Blues are now a team in transition and it's ugly and quite brutal to watch. From the tactically defensive 2017 to a new game style built around rapid ball movement, we've been opened up in all three games. The opposition has seized on the ease of defensive pressure, got us big time on the rebound and, with no tackling pressure and fewer numbers around the contest, teams are scoring very quickly against the Blues. Carlton needs more effort from players willing to sacrifice a stat with gut running, shepherding, even a slap-on or knock-on but most of all tackling. Bolton will be determined to succeed with this new offensive game. He needs stronger on-field leadership, players willing to lead a bunch of kids by example and with the brittleness of Murphy and selfish waywardness of Daisy good luck with that.

True, but lack of perceived skills comes with a lack of time to execute. Everything they do is rushed. They rarely appear to be outside with time and space. It’s like watching human pinball.

And doesn't have enough games at AFL level for anybody to make a call on him

How many games have we given Graham, Kerridge, Lamb, Thomas?

Cunningham is showing signs because he's starting to believe he belongs in the team. All the attributes you claim Polson doesn't have are simply a function of his mentality and confidence

I will reserve my judgement on Polson for a while yet

Couldn't agree more. So what did they do all pre season?

Right now I'm so depressed that we find ourselves in this position, again.

Feel like we're destined to be perennial cellar dwellers and have lost faith in this rebuild.

I think we are failing structurally by playing too many mostly inexperienced and very light bodied players at once. Makes us weaker in the physical contests but just as importantly means less optimum leading marking targets.

Jones made some bad mistakes today, but also some great intercepts. Got badly caught on turnovers due to shite disposal mostly from the other defenders. I liked the way he looked after Weitering.
