Start with the toxic culture and work your way down to the way drivers are treated.

Ultimately the drivers won't be an issue, their end goal is autonomous vehicles (dependent on how Waymo's legal action against Uber goes I guess) as they're losing money on every trip. They need to move on that fast, their runway is supposedly as low as two years.

At the members forum Mark LoGuodice mentioned a few stats, ~1m revenue, ~$700k profit. -1m from Career One collapsing, -2m for ground resurfacing, quite a lot spent on the footy department, lots of new coaches and staff, including setting up with women's competition (Players paid by AFL, staff paid by clubs)

AGM will be at the end of Feb.

Not sure if this is the right forum to slot this one in, but reading an article by Ross Gitten in The Age today, I couldn't help but be impressed by what he wrote about Harold Mitchell. Harold is an advertising man and life-long Carlton FC fan and member. would love to see him approached if the club ever looks to replace its President.

Mitchell tells of being visited by representatives of the Singapore government, who invited him to move his head office there. Their advertised company tax rate was 15 per cent, but he’d get a special offer of 7 per cent.
He declined. “I believe in the Australian system that creates the sort of society that enabled me to build a successful business. Avoiding tax, even if it seems legal, is a very shortsighted ambition,” he wrote.
What’s wrong with the man? What a corporate dinosaur. He claims to have found at least one other rich person who thinks similarly – the Scottish children’s author, JK Rowling.
“I pay a lot of tax, and I feel one of the reasons I stay and pay and why I’m not based in Monaco ... is I think my country helped me,” she's said.
Mitchell even quoted the American jurist Oliver Wendell Holmes’ dictum that “taxes are what we pay for a civilised society”.
Perhaps the problem is it also works the other way: more money-grubbing, rule-bending and tax avoiding are part of a society that’s becoming less civilised."
I think he'd make a fine addition to the Carlton board
