The whole concept of "destination club" strikes me as a bit odd. The "destination club" is the one you sign the contract with. I guarantee if we started offering some of these average blokes massive contracts they'll be lining up, (Dale Thomas anyone?).

FWIW I like the way we're going about things at the moment. Not too eager.

I like the way you think.

I actually had a conversation about this with someone from the club yesterday. They are not going to be overly generous ( any more ) with money or years to get players in. Especially guys that are not stellar people or footballers.

You're kidding yourself. Gibbs for 2 picks in next years first round? Not even close.

This year he is a top 6 pick IMO. The proposed rumour deal is about right.

This year is irrelevant. He's talking about next years draft.
With so many top shelf SA players in next years crop, you'd be stealing one first round pick. Comparing apples with watermelons IMHO.

I’ve changed my mind about trading Gibbs.

From what I’ve read, it’s a very poor draft this year. A player picked at 10 would probably go around 20-30 in next years draft.

That’s why the Bombers have gone bang because there’s not much super talent in this years draft

Shocking that people at a football club during the trade period are discussing their plans for the trade period.

He also said that Carlton stuffed up by swapping picks with Hawthorn last year because we now do not have "our" 2nd round pick to use for Kennedy. Said the players we got from the swap were McCreadie, Kerr and we didn't use the last pick. He got that completely wrong. We got Williamson, McCreadie and Polson with those picks Also the pick we traded was GWS's 2nd round pick which would be around 34, so not much different to our 3rd round. What a professional.

In the AFL environment, everyone knows you can say what you want and not be called on it. Except for calling the druggies drugcheats, cant do that

Yeah but we don't know about Smith's knee and Saad is a fringe best 22 player.

He has never been too good at keeping two sets of names and numbers in his head...

As I keep saying (and getting shouted down) - What we did last year for the Jager O'mera trade for Hawthorn had to be a Godfather handshake. Hawthorn now need to step up and assist us.

I think it's been established now (given what we ultimately gained) that Hawthorn don't need to do shit for us.
