Blues strongly deny Simon Lethlean to take over a done deal. Trigg replacement to be found by recruitment firm @superfooty

I get the feeling this could be a sliding doors moment that could make or break the club. Hopefully they get it right.

(Also worth noting that barass called this week's ago)

Very disappointing.
Obviously I'm not privy to any issues behind the scenes but I have been extremely impressed with his approachability and attitude toward uniting the club.

Gill picks up the phone and calls MLG...

Gill: Hi Mark, I see Carlton's numbers aren't as great as we'd hoped they'd be this year... we might need a change. Listen mate, we need you to arrange for Lethlean to take over from Trigger. Simon's a good bloke he'll do fine.

MLG: But we're happy with Trigger ... as stable and united as we've ever been. We're turning things around slowly but surely.

Gill: Mate, c'mon we need this to happen. You know that arrangement re Princes Park we've been having... this change will go a long way to facilitating that... if you get my drift.

MLG. Geez... ok Gill... but let me do the process thing to show the members I'm still calling the shots. Can I do that ?

Gill: Haha... no worries mate. Speak soon.

MLG: Bye mate. [hangs up] ...cauliflower !

Agree gritty move and pushing forward the momentum of change its exciting times indeed coaching and administration rreviews and updates are necessary are appropriate, next it should be the board.

Yep, same here, I'm involved at the club at a corporate level and in his presentations I've found him to be a knowledgeable and passionate operator who has advanced all our KPI's strongly since he's been on board.

Would love to know what's behind all of this.

I won't pretend to know what's brought this about (although would totally understand if our shithouse membership numbers had a part to play), but could this have waited until AFTER the trading period?

You could speculate that ordinary membership figures behind this I agree, but I really thought Trigg had some pretty reasonable solutions to this issue. Regrettably, your average Carlton fan still has that disappointing sense of entitlement and just won't support the club in tough times. Even before Tigs had this watershed year, their membership galloped past us - are the board using this solely as the KPI to judge Trigg?

Very disappointed to hear of Trigg's departure. A friend of mine who works at the club always spoke highly of the supportive manner in which he worked with the staff, encouraging their ideas and giving them opportunities to step up. I also enjoyed his media work, he always came across as knowledgeable and as honest as you can be in a public setting. Also worth noting he was the first CEO to run a thorough process for appointing a senior coach, possibly in our entire history.

At the very least, I'm confident he's left the club in a far healthier state than what he found it.

Hey Doc. Can you expand on the good part?

Always good to have fresh eyes, but it does depend on who we have coming in.

Was impressed the one time I met him. His public work all appeared good.

Bit worried about what's behind this.

If it's Simon Lethlean that is replacing Trigg - it's an upgrade. I think Trigg did a good job and has put the club in a reasonably good position, but I don't think there's a lot more he can do. In terms of football administration, negotiation, drive and hard-nosed approach - Lethlean is an A-grader and one I would have thought the club has been after to take it to the next level.

I think long-term, if he decides to go back into law - he'll become a club President.

I can understand concern about sponsorship and membership. But from the outside I've been very impressed with Trigg. I hope this doesn't mean the club has lost patience. I'd hate to think stupid decisions would torpedo the direction we're heading in. And whoever they've got in mind better be able to work well with Bolton and SOS.
