Our backline is solid and most importantly we have players in that mix that can play tall or small. Our forward line will take shape with McKay/Jack/Ben and Pickett/Sumner/Wright - and maybe Smith.

Charlie Curnow has become our most important young player. He needs to run in the centre as a second bull alongside Cripps, with SPS, Fisher, Cuners (all of whom can play) and this year's pick buzzing on the outside. In Kreuz, we already have a ruckman that becomes a midfielder that hits the deck.

Hate to say it, this is the year we need to be bold with our trades/drafts... as Bulldogs and Tigers were the year before they pinched their flags. We already have more pieces of the puzzle than we think. Murph and Gibbs need to be on the table for astute in's.

We will see. I've heard a lot of counter arguments over the year and in the end they all add up to nothing. The big bash might just be another that having an extra running player at each contest overrides.

Surely Adelaide knew how Bitchmond would setup with these and have a plan. Nothing, zilch. Horrible coaching.

I don’t see how, the “extra” running player will be busy contesting the ruck, not 20 metres away where the ball gets hit. The “Grigg” model only works if the ball is tapped close to the ruck contest.

Over the course of a game. Ball gets hit 20m. Pingpongs around for a couple of seconds. Who is at that next contest applying pressure? Grigg or Jacobs? The outnumber will be with Richmond.

Most teams are not game to hit the ball outside the bubble to a random situation. Either a controlled exit or it stays in. I can't see it changing. Crows had watched the Tigers do it all year and still didn't have the balls to just what it foward when they were in a "nothing to lose" situation. The big punch is too random. Like the bomb kickout down the guts.

The game will evolve. What we are seeing with the Dogs(16') and Tigers is the Collingwood 2010 gameplan on roids. The necessary adjustments have been made to deal with changes in ruck rules and interchange caps. The main change is losing talls players for runnings players. After the Pies 2010 mega press the Hawks brought out the kicking game to counter it. It worked.
Perhaps the answer now is the kicking game on roids. Can't see how though. Requires too much skill that one team could not possibly possess.

The Hawks side of 2012-15 (2012 they should have won the GF but for poor conversion in front of goal), Geelong from 2007-09 and 2011, St Kilda 2009 (should have won the GF) and Collingwood 2010 would have all beaten this Richmond side very easily. In fact the games would have been over by half time.
IMO the Swans this year probably would have easily accounted for the Tigers if they made the GF.
Richmond deserve to be premiers however the Crows were one of the weakest grand final teams we have seen for a while IMO.

Actually I was going to add that for us I’d say Kruezer is the equal of Grigg as a midfielder so I don’t think their model would be so effective against us.

I agree but i am talking about replacing the big lugg second forward/second ruck type with a midfielder small forward type.
I think the current gamestyle trends and Kreuzer are going mesh perfectly.

Of course there is no interest in Griffen but sure we will take him if it means getting kennedy and smith cheaper
