Could Rockliff play the Grigg role ( the new Leigh Brown role) ? Onballer come second ruck.
Charlie Curnow also an option. Bearing in mind Grigg doesnt really do anything in the ruck but keep the oppo ruckman accountable. He then becomes an extra onballer.
Of the 29 ruck contests Grigg took in the finals he lost them all but Richmond won those clearances by a long way losing only 4.
This tactic will get worked out quickly and won’t be as effective next year, any decent ruckman will smash the ball clear of the stoppage to a place his midfielders will be waiting instead of just trying to top it down.
Exactly. And players will know if they see a mismatch, to get on outside and spread.
Our backline is solid and most importantly we have players in that mix that can play tall or small. Our forward line will take shape with McKay/Jack/Ben and Pickett/Sumner/Wright - and maybe Smith.
Charlie Curnow has become our most important young player. He needs to run in the centre as a second bull alongside Cripps, with SPS, Fisher, Cuners (all of whom can play) and this year's pick buzzing on the outside. In Kreuz, we already have a ruckman that becomes a midfielder that hits the deck.
Hate to say it, this is the year we need to be bold with our trades/drafts... as Bulldogs and Tigers were the year before they pinched their flags. We already have more pieces of the puzzle than we think. Murph and Gibbs need to be on the table for astute in's.
