Some will argue too many dollars, not enough sense

It will be interesting now to see where we can get the picks from to jag the likes of Hopper etc. No 2nd round carrots. Perhaps Gibbo might be thrown up after all. Either that or 2018 might get sold off.

I thought the plan was always just back to the draft this year with minor small trades and then big name trades next year?
What makes us believe the media about us being into a few big names this year?
That's an honest question because I haven't been paying attention to our trade strategy.

Our worst case for draft 2017
Is pick a premium mid at 3
and a developing forward or ruck at 38.
anything else is a bonus

I just think reality is starting to hit.
Kelly won't leav GWS and Gibbs will stay and we may not have the currency to jag hopper, kennedy or a 2nd rounder

I love Bryce as a player at the Blues. I don't want him to leave but................

He turns 29 next March. If our next honest tilt at Premiership is 2021 at best then he is 32.

I presume that if SPS, Cunno, Charlie and Doc can all move through the midfield from 2018 onwards, then I can see a valid reason to let Bryce go if he wanted to.

If we got a pick that would also bring a midfielder such as Hopper to the Blues plus another midfielder at pick 3 then it would make sense to me.

If the Crows win a flag this year with their list and they add Bryce in 2018, they have a great chance to win more in the next 4 years. They have a real chance for a dynasty of sorts and could well be tempted to pay abit of overs for a Prime fillet in Bryce.

I doubt pick 17 or 18 would do it for Bryce. Maybe 17/18 and Rory Atkins might be worth a look.

If Lever comes back to Melbourne then their 1st round pick at #10 should do it maybe with steak knives such as Poholke who I rate as a tough onballer.

Regards Cazzesman

personally glad levi is staying. Just rewatched the collingwood game and he did make a big difference to our setup. Importantly he was never really beaten and if Pickett can get it together he will be pretty handy to crumb off.
If Harry overtakes him then fine - he can play in the 2's but he has made progress and with improvements in our other forwards he is less likely to get double teamed. I know he is frustrating but don't see any obvious R1 2018 replacement (I see charlie as an addition not a replacement)
Certainly don't think Rowe is the answer....

Your response to him being delisted was to have a go at the "deluded fans" who wanted to see him succeed.

I don't understand the approach. He's gone. He obviously wasn't in their plans. IMO we should wish all departing players good luck and look to the future IMO.
I fail to see the need for comments like yours. It was petty and provocative. And then when someone bites back you want to play the victim. :?

I feel totally dudded by KJ.
I was hoping he'd make it, right up to the very end, because I witnessed his demolition of Waite in Sydney, and he looked like a KP of the future to me at 19yo.
I was genuinely optimistic when we got him.

The reasons he didn't make it at Carlton will come out in the wash.

All we have to go by now is rumours that he lacked motivation and drive, and he liked to get on the sauce on weekends.
Wealso know the MC wouldn't pick him ahead of others for reasons not made public.
It seems to me the rumours could be close to the mark.

All he wanted was to get to Melbourne.
Carlton was the vehicle to do so whilst fleecing us a cool $1M...and he didn't have to try.

It isn't about deluded Carlton fans as we are innocent believers.
The issue is how a 20yo could pull the wool over our eyes when the experienced Malthouse the motivator was in charge.

This is where the KJ handling was wrong (In my ill informed and ignorant opinion)

There was no visible motivation to reform, to be given an opportunity to see how things could turn out if he applied himself more. What would have been wrong to 'shock' him with a selection or two and give him the stage. It's not as though he is the first immature 22 yo with some talent. He won't be the last

From what people have said, he virtually knew back in May that he was no chance. The fact that his ressie form (fwd and back) was as satisfactory as it was probably tells me he more engaged than maybe he was given credit for. No redemption, no chances for rehabilitation and little extrinsic motivation to succeed

I hope he gets a second chance somewhere and plays a ripping game against us.

I'm only annoyed at the pig headed-ness of the MC. I don't know whether he had the talent to succeed at senior level and you know what...neither does anybody else...1 game over 2 seasons had nothing to do with talent. If that's the case, explore other ways to turn that switch on at AFL level. If the exploration doesn't bear fruit, then you can move on and sleep easily knowing you exhausted all avenues

I'll put in $100 if we sponsor Nick Graham.

If 2018 is as deep as a few are saying it is, then trading 2018 picks is the last thing I'd do except for a star like Josh Kelly. We need points to pick up Ben Silvagni too if the reports that he's better than Jack are true.

We don't have much tradeable currency left. I think Gibbs or Murphy are it. I would strongly consider an offer for Murphy actually, and whilst Gibbs has more currency, he also offers more in terms of leadership and presence from an outsider's view. I would even take a 2018 pick for him in the late first round or a very early 2nd round this year so we can bring in 2 mids for 1 as we need depth badly.

Maybe SOS' grand plan is that someone trades for Levi at the end of next year if he has another good year and we're not reliant on AFL willynilly compo.
