This is painful to watch, but can any of us be surprised?

A team made up of kids, VFL-standard triers and (frankly) some of the worst "senior leadership" going around was always going to find it tough to play out the season with the same intensity as other teams. Take some of our most critical players out of the equation and it compounds the problem.

The final few weeks are going to be VERY rough, but we need to hold on. We need to drop this entitled Veruca Salt bullshit.

This image from the BF autopsy thread sums us up IMO...

As one of the Ch 7 talking heads said (yeah I know), there's a danger that Carlton's season falls apart and undoes the year's positives by leaving players and fans deflated and defeatist. That game just wasn't close to being a contest. We may be on the right track, we may not, but it is going to be an exceedingly long and painful path. Will our best players be up for it?

They're right. They're bringing a good, promising season completely undone. Not the same side that gave every side buggery and even led 5 times in the last qtr before losing. Just unravelling and about to ruin a decent season.

How many games to go?

Our season was over when Cripps broke his leg.

Yeah fair enough, point taken. I'm suffering from momentary depression, it's a serious affliction.

Even after we had kicked 3 goals in the firat quarteri wasn't fooled. Geelong like just about every other team murdered us ihe clearances. Would love to know the stats for misssd tackles and turnovers because we must be miles ahead of everyone else. I hace a full season membership but can't see myself taking the time to warch more of this garbage in person this year.

Too many injuries hence too many skinny players out there.

Re the leadership, we can do one more year of Murphy only and then we need to change. He is a good player but a teams personality is in so many ways defined by the leader. Murphy is playing the older, experienced role buT we cannot continue to say we will be defined by pressure, will be ruthless..etc.. if our leader does not reflect that personally. Hodge, Selwood teams reflect their leader...

I don't think it is Doc to be honest as he also lacks that ruthless personality we need to help build a ruthless team. Somwe have to hope Cripps can add a little more aggression.

Second week in a row that we've been brought undone strategically too. Last week was Brisbane up the middle when we went wide.
This week our defensive zones were pushed wide and someone would run into the gap... We were trying to protect wider and wider space... Suckered... A lot... Didn't change until late in the 3rd I think it was... That's why it seemed to be chip chip to free players all the time...
If I could see who it was going to go to eighty % of the time, why couldn't our players... Frustrating

Go you good things

On the plus side, it's becoming apparent that if we can build our midfield, we now have some young forwards who can one day fulfil their hard work.

Long season for the first and second year players and Marchbank's first game back after 4 weeks.

Curnow, SPS continued to grow and looked promising.

Mckay's goals were both good kicks on the run. Play him for the rest of the year.

Yep.
We need to go 100% mids in the draft and trade including another ruckman to develop. Korchek isn't going to make it past this year. Kreuzer is a bull but he can't keep this up. Phillips hasn't had a full season yet but he is promising when he has a few games. His injuries are not impact injuries, they're silly little things that last forever.

Agreed, we've been shit for far too long.
