Same number of scoring shots..............again.
Why can't we kick straight?

Brisbane aren't a bad side - plenty of talent - get the feeling too many underrate them

Time for an announcement about Simpson's farewell game..... this season.

1 more year I think. I know he's battled lately but depth is a massive issue. I'd like some of the kids we pick up develop in the two's.

we need Simmo to transition to a minor role and a kid to step up into his role (Byrne or Willo)

100% agree.

Also 100% agree. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water if Kade wants to play on. We have showed with Armfield that regardless of prior service or status in the leadership group we will leave senior players in the seconds if we need to. Simo could actually mentor plenty of the young guys while playing in the seconds. It would be a sacrificial humble role to play if his form drops anymore.

Not sure if it's a positive or negative, but looked very much like today's match ups at the start of the game were a long term investment (in player development and the draft order).

Suppose if we got the number 1 pick it'd make it easier to to nail Josh Kelly, a young superstar with a 3 year head start on a draftee.

Why would anyone want to come to Carlton?

Thought Levi was poor Crippa. Not sure what you liked so much. Or was it a piss take?

Shocker of a game all round but we put out a pretty rubbish team and really shouldn't have expected much different. Glad the game was used as a chance to educate the young players.
We seemed to have a different game plan. Shows in the stats too.
Will be a tough end to the season but we always knew that was coming.

Not saying he's made it by any stretch but I can't figure the value of dropping Boekhurst for Thomas... would it not have been better to get a borderline kid with a bit of pace keep having a crack?

Their 4 wins and average losing margin of 51 points says otherwise.

Our effort in the first half was deplorable. No other way to describe it.

My 8 year old said after the game "only we could beat the top of the ladder Giants and lose to the bottom of the ladder Lions.....ONLY CARLTON!"

Haha. Made me laugh which I really needed.

Bolton: Our boys showed character and fought hard, but we didn't have the energy in the end.
Bolton: Zorko had a fantastic first quarter and set up Brisbane. We had players going to him, but they couldn't do the job.
Bolton: We had nine draftees from the past two years out there and tried some positional changes with Curnow and Silvagni.
Bolton: The shots on goal were even. We were inaccurate and that hurt us.
Bolton: We didn't capitalise on the scoreboard with our momentum.
Bolton: We didn't stop Brisbane's momentum in the first half and will need to work on that.
Bolton: McKay showed some good little signs. He's still got a lot to learn.
Bolton: A readiness when playing interstate is something we need to attain. It's a learned skill.
Bolton: I think we got through the game fairly clean injury-wise. We've got some tired bodies.

Today proved we are the worst side in the competition. If Brisbane get their compensation pick (again) and we dont then the AFL have confirmed their priorities and dont give a stuff about a fair competition.

The youngsters did well today. SPS (second half), Charlie, Williamson, Harry (he played well for a first gamer), Cunningham showed some good signs, Jack going back was something new so this this is what we need to focus on. These guys need more friends though.

We are the worst side in the league, we will get the spoon and so be it.

Harry's four marks inside 50 equalled the most Casboult has taken I50 in a game this year.

Nah it was serious but maybe I'm blind because I'm definitely in the minority on here. He just presents to so many contests. Takes strong marks or brings it to ground. One or the other. He never gets out marked. He kicked a really good goal and slightly hooked one other. Plus he gave good service in the ruck.

Agree with the rest of your post. SOS showed a bit in defence which was part of the education you mentioned. We all know we bat very shallow. Add Cripps for class, Ed for a clamp on Zorko and Marchbank for stability and we become a different team. Back to the draft to build depth and keep our heads up.

Didn't look like we had as many intercept marks. Got minimal drive off half back. Didnt really chip it around the back half like we usually do. Rare switches of play.
It seemed like we played differently even with momentum.

I like to believe Bolton knew exactly what he was doing today and winning wasn't a huge priority.

At the start of the season most of us had Brisbane well ahead of us.

He is good at what he does. Even his facial expressions fit. He will probably finish up with a house from football.
Makes us good hard working folk feel a bit down to be honest.
