I wish we would stop giving sides head starts.
Kreuzer was huge again, as was Docherty Gibbs and Cripps.
We were coming off a 6 day break compared to their 9 days.
Curnow has to get the rising start nomination surely.
Umpiring was crap.

Ditto

We are a destination club for good reason.

That was one of the most frustrating umpiring displays I have ever witnessed. Deplorable. Two interpretations when it came to holding the ball, dropping the ball and in the backs. Shocking!!!

Agree, but at least the 50m protected zone frees were consistent..... Or holding up players when you weren't in the marking contest

I thought we played pretty well, but the better side won. Adelaide were just a bit cleaner & moved the ball better overall. They also looked bigger & stronger than us which really showed up in the number of slipped tackles.

That was the best of Jones' games this year IMO. Just a terrific day from him.

I didn't agree with every umpiring decision today, but you're never going to. I didn't think we had a particularly bad run. Thought the Freo and North games were far worse.

The first 15 minutes was the difference

You could also say the Kruzer and Cripps missed goals from set shots inside 40m with minimal angle were the difference. But they were such superstars throughout the game it's still hard to be anything except proud they wear the navy blue.

Ps. Is Weitering carrying a few injuries?
Something not quite right there although he still did a good job.

He's had a very quiet year and has been bashed around a bit. Needs a spell of a week or two managed or to find his mojo in the reserves. We don't need him run into the ground

And SOJ??? 5 possessions to add to his 9 last week

Time for Laurie Levi to come out and challenge anyone who wants to shoot our dear Bambi's

Sumner with 4 possessions would be disappointed he can't find better form.

By comparison Silvani with only 5 possessions had a really good game.

So he takes the television off Robbert Klomp??

When i am watching the game i am fair. if we are lucky with a decision i will acknowledge it.

We copped the shitty end of the stick from the umpires today. The non free to Fisher at FF, the rubbish in the back decision in their goal square (that was dropping the ball before it was anything else!).

Numerous in the back decisions around the ground that weren't there. I cant remember any irregular decisions going against them.

Our players will make mistakes and give up goals, their players will make mistakes and give up goals. .. THATS THE GAME

but then, on top of that there are the arseholes in charge of the game who often push an advantage to one side.

... over all we did well. after the first 15mins we took control... supporters was going nuts while we were chipped it around half back.. but we found our pitch and groove, and stopped them from scoring a goal for 20 odd mins while we put on 3-4 goals ourselves. we are on they way. Can't wait to see what happens in the trade/draft period.. I can see us up and about for long time.. no fools gold here...

Ksrridge is OK in close, his handballing in close is a lot better than his kicking, which is his huge drawback. He also has an excellent tank. It's just a shame his kicking let's him down. I actually think it's more mental than anything. He's a good shot at goal. But in the heat of play when he has multiple decisions to make he can screw up his kicks over thinking his options. He was a decent contributor today but at the death turned it over twice which sealed the game for Adel

Lucky enough to come to melb yesterday for stock take to babysit the auditor and the new ceo threw me a couple afl members tickets on first level dead centre wing. Awesome view.

Murphy looks like he needs a spell. Fumbles n lacks penetration at times.

A couple umpiring decisions killed us but whilst the hurt they wont make a difference to our results as we improve and become a force. You make your own luck.

Sosos preparedness to chase was great. As he develops physically less a d less will escape.

Finally Charlie is going to be a beast.

Future looks bright.

The first fifteen minutes killed us. After that we were a different team.
The last quarter, we were beaten to the hard ball and they had more run.
I am not going to mention the umpiring other than to say what I said to Blue Beatle at half time, the 50-50s never seem to fall our way.

Pros:
Cripps marking adds another dimension to his power game.
Gibbs had another great game with only one really glaring mistake early.
Kreuzer having his best season ever.
Jones plays FB like a kid. He has no fear of failure and backs himself to mark, spoil or kill the contest. He also spreads the packs.
Silvagni's overall game, which doesn't show in the stats book.
If we had have won that game, Charlie Curnow would be a monty for the RS this week. As it is, he is in the picture. His marking is starting to really take shape. Even the Carlton-haters like Gerard Healey love him.
Simmo and Doc again.
Kerridge did his job and he Graham kept Sloane to a reasonable number of possessions.
Overall belief. Morale is listed in the military as being of the same level of importance as fuel and ammunition. We are developing self belief. We are developing the run and getting the players. There you have it. Morale, fuel and ammo.

Cons:
Too many lesser contributions. Fisher, Cuningham, Sumner, Thomas. Whilst Kerridge and Graham did their jobs, they were not high possession getters.
Murphy goes where the ball is and demands it but then often does stupid stuff with it. Compare his game to Walker's fifty five metre bomb at a critical time. Captain's goal. Murphy should be a link man and not be looking for possessions on the boundary where he gets corraled and has to hand off to someone in traffic, which seemed to happen a lot.
Turnovers in the midfield that led to goals.
Despite our relative accuracy, there were three very easy goals missed. Mind you, Adelaide did us a few favours as well in that regard.

Overall a good result. Gave one of the flag favourites a scare without hurting or draft position.

I didn't think Adelaide would flog us again but I didn't think we'd win either.
We get scored against very easily once we turn it over. I also notice a lot of slipped tackles again, they are a much bigger side but I guess we have a lot of very young players.
Quite an entertaining game if you take out the first 15 minutes.
Troy Pannell can GTFO.

Silvagni played a very good game yesterday. Not sure what you were looking at. Throws himself in with abandon, chases down opponents who appear much faster, looks like an India rubber man at times.

Actually reminds me a lot of someone, not sure who. It's those long sleeves, the hunched walk....
