For Kelly, I'd offer our first round pick this year and swap our first round picks with GWS next year. They'd be banking on us having 1-5 pick next year, when it could end up being 10-20 if we continue to improve quicker than others expect.

Yeah, I'm sure GWS won't see that coming

I'm hearing there has been a push by the board to land a big fish. The club is struggling with corporate support. There are some on the board who believe we need to raise the clubs profile and go for a big fish that's had plenty of marketing value. Watch this space

If this is true... (and I am skeptical) this is disappointing from a board that has finally got it right in the last few years.

I still think we are better off going for a big fish (Read: Kelly) this year and going back to the draft next year as it's a better draft than this years'. So this *may* work for us, but it should be up to SOS and Bolts - not the Board.

Weitering, SPS, Marchbank, Cunningham, C Curnow are the big fish we have landed.

The Corporates will jump on when these guys are leading us to the finals in a couple of years.

Hold the course Blues. Now is not the time to top up.

Players don't raise the profile of the club by much unless they are a once in a generation type player (Ablett, Judd etc)

If the board wants the Clubs profile raised, we need to be playing finals. Corporates want to affiliate with successful clubs as they also want to be seen as successful.

The quickest way to playing finals is to get as much quality players into the club as possible, landing a big fish does not achieve this and we shouldn't even consider this ATM.

I have to agree.

But also I think the Board are chicken shitting it out, by also not admitting they have no answer to why our membership has stagnated.

No apparent spike in numbers after our wins against Essendon* or Collingwood and doesn't appear to get any spike after our GWS win.

Surely we should have been hitting lapsed members with some 3 match deals after those wins.

We need to do the hard yards and hope we can back end the season with a few wins.

If we finish the year with a similar type last round loss that we dished up last year against Essendon*, then we'll struggle to break 40,000 next year.

I'd rather get Lever for Gibbs (if he decides to leave)

With Lever, you could play Weitering up forward with Mckay and Levi

You could still potentially get Kelly as well depending on whether the crows accept Gibbs and a later pick.

That would still leave us with our 2 first round picks to trade for Kelly.

I've been told by a reliable source that we're apparently into Dusty. Whilst I'd prefer we go for Josh Kelly, at least we don't give up our first round pick by going after a free agent. Which would obviously be consistent with the apparent Silvagni plan to build a Premiership list via the draft.

But inconsistent with our 'no flower' policy.....

No thanks to either Kelly or Martin.
Both would cost to much $$$.
Stick with the draft please.

So we've had Bradley's golf buddy saying sos is into hopper
The board wanting to land a big fish
Media reports we are into Kelly
And a rumour from a "reliable source " that we are into dusty
We are gonna have a good team next year.
