You'd think that if we were to land Hopper, it would cost us our first round pick.
Kelly would cost a lot more.
BUT, would we be happy with some form of trade that sees us getting Kelly but losing our first round pick, Kruezer, Gibbs and one of the picks we get from Adelaide for Gibbs?
e.g.
We end up with: Kelly + 2nd round pick for Gibbs
GWS ends up with: Two 1st round picks (ours ~pick 4 + Adelaide's ~pick 16...) + Kruezer
Adelaide ends up with: Gibbs (but loses a 1st & 2nd round pick)
?
Alternatively, would we be happy to land Hopper & Kelly for Gibbs, Kruezer, Casboult and all 1st & 2nd round picks we have or get through the Gibbs/Kruezer/Casboult trades?
So Kreuzer, Gibbs and pick 4 for Kelly and a late second rounder?
That's the comp's form ruckman, one of our club's two best mids and the fourth best 18yo in the country for Kelly and pick 32?
Is your real name Ben Dover?
Personally, I'd be inclined to trade Gibbs for 2 first round picks or possibly one first round and a second round (esp if one or both of these get upgraded by Adelaide before passing onto us). And then I'd look at trading Kruezer for a high 2nd round pick or better (or free agency deal if he's up for that which nets us a first round pick...).
And I'd bank as many high draft picks as possible this year.
Then look to trade for a Kelly or similar in a year or two when our first picks are likely to be a bit lower and the additions will be the final piece(s) of an otherwise complete team.
However, if Kelly & Hopper are gettable now, then we might have to give up a fair bit to secure them before our ideal timing scenario.
But I agree what I suggested above is overs. But its SOS's opinion that counts...
