The crowd size was disappointing but the noise in the last was deafening.

Well done to the young lad that predicted a CFC win by 1 point on the big screen at three quarter time.

So pleased for Jones, copped so much criticism but kept battling on. I've always liked how he always gives his all, I'd given up on him ever making it though. All credit to the Carlton brains trust turning him into a defender.

And as has been said above, Patton was moved off him. Whoo hoo!

Pros:

Senior core. Kreuzer, Gibbs, Murphy, Plowman, Docherty.
1st half accuracy.
Really pleased Liam Jones had a terrific first up effort. Would hate to see his rebirth flounder for lack of confidence.
Another encouraging performance by Cuningham. Won a crucial clearance late in the game, deep in defence.

Cons:

Continue to get smashed at clearances.
Pity Fisher missed that goal.

Every side gets smashed in the clearances against this team. They have so much elite talent with lightning hands in close. We've built a superb backline IMHO.....the fwd line and the mids are our next target. Hopper and elite mids in this year's draft will be our targets. Cunners and SPS are already addressing this weakness too.

We're one of the worst clearance sides in the competition. Not just the sheer numbers. But the clean clearances we concede. Also the number of clearances where we start with the ball, and end up being pressured out of it, and concede to the opposition.

Just watched last 2 minutes. That free to Green for tunnelling was a joke.....the Carlton player (Gibbs ?) was already on the ground crawling for ball after a contest. Would have been a travesty if we'd lost.

When we did win clearances we got it in too quick to get numbers around it to keep it in. Easy rebound and shot at the other end.
We were better losing the clearances today. We were set up for it.

I haven't been that emotional at the end of a game since we beat Port to make the finals. My ex wife separated from me the next day literally. Just bought my new wife some champagne to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Anyway, that was awesome.

Went with the old man today. Had a coffee and a good chat at half time. @#$%&! ripper outcome. May have to roll a joint tonight and just take stock of how good life is right now... public holiday tomorrow and a good sleep in

PS: Liam Jones... the fish who spent his whole life being called dumb because he couldn't climb a tree.

Wow. What a win.
Just so relieved that our easy misses didn't cost us the game. The 3 in the third term from Levi, Krooz and Charlie, the missed chances in the last and the final miss from Fish.

I'm even more relieved that the bullshit free to Greene (against Gibbs I think it was?) didn't cost us. If we had have lost the game because of the @#$%&! ridiculous bull shite "legging" rule the television would not have survived. They seriously need to get rid of that rule ASAP. How can you have 2 rules that are completely contradictory, where it's basically a lottery as to which way it goes? It should have been a free kick for high to the man playing the ball. The free for contact below the knees should only be payed for a leg first slide

But anyway. Thankfully that little rat puttsed it up. Would a stinker of a final 10 mins he had

Docherty is our best player IMO. Will win a few BnFs over his career and should be the next captain. Was immense again today.

Cuningham is providing what we've all been praying he would. Hard at it, fast midfielder who wins his own ball, can burst away from a pack, uses it well and kicks goals. Has quick clean hands and is excellent in congestion. His emergence is going to be close to the highlight of the season for me because he was one that could have gone either way. He'll go a long way to filling the void of young quality mids we have coming through. I reckon he might be our 3rd rising star nomination for the year.

Jones looks like he could be one of the best key defenders in the league by seasons end. His closing speed and leap make him almost impossible to mark against. The amount of times he came from third or fourth back in a pack today and belted it clear was staggering. Was clean in possession and used it well. He'll only get better with the confidence he'll take from today as well.

Fisher has got to be one of the cleanest first touch players we've had in years. Spewing he missed that goal to seal it, would have put my house on him slotting that but thankfully it didn't cost and ultimately that point won us the game. He's going to be a ripper

I like the last 3 words. Nah, actually make that the last 7. :smoking:

Thought Plowman was very very good on that flog Greene. Greene was completely frustrated.
In fact all their forwards were quiet. Cameron was ineffective and Patton was well beaten.

Great win. A real team performance across the park.

At least 22,700 of them were Carlton supporters though.
Made a lot of noise.

Great summation. And after so long in the wilderness it's great to be able to talk about the future. The more you look at it, the more Bolts and SOS are perfect for the club right now. Recruiting the right kind of players and "staying on the path, the journey" as they like to say. Sometimes I thought Bolts' mantra was a bit over the top but it does indeed start to have impact and build belief.

Wow.
Not long home from the game.
I have no voice, a headache and tired.
The replay has just started, I have the house to myself, and a bottle of wine.
Doesn't get any better than that.
Go blues.
