I tried to youtube them but couldn't find any so this will have to do:

Quote:
Maxwell Smart: Well, there was this East Himalayan traveling salesman, see, and his ox-cart broke down in front of a farm house. Well, he went up and he knocked on the door and the farmer opened the door. And the traveling salesman said: 'Oh oh oh hey, mahu, savali naaneh'. And the farmer replied: 'Aaka maaka soo soo'.
[laughs riotously]

Maxwell Smart: An East Himalayan bum walked up to me on the street one day and said: 'Ana hoho uni, aha awahi tiki'. And I said - what's the punchline?
[points at Dimitri]
Dimitri: I said: 'Yehi tajo gurka hama'.
Maxwell Smart: [Max checks the punchline in the East Himalayan joke book and begins to chuckle] That's very funny Dimitri.

Ed Curnow nad Phillips signed 2 year deals, something that was not previously confirmed.

Happy with all that, but 2 years for Phillips is interesting. I thought a 1 year extension would be fair at this point for him.

They must have left Phillip's file on Andy McKay's desk.

Makes some sense. Gives us coverage in an area we dont have a lot of depth in. Makes kreuz and Phillips come out of contract in different years (assuming kreuz triggers the extension).

17th, in what Universe do you think SOS will let Gibbs go for the compensation he rejected a year ago? Simply won't happen.

I think SOS would have been quite content with letting him go for 2 top 30 picks if one of them was in the top 10.
So, if Adelaide is prepared to creep to that then I think SOS would be prepared to accept it.
A lot would depend on how high the first round pick was (top 10 definitely yes, pick 17 probably not...) and the quality of player we could draft with the additional picks.

I strongly believe that SOS still believes we have a fair way to go with our list.
Therefore, we need a way to get more picks than those simply allotted to us based on ladder position.
We don't have many players who could get us into the pointy end of the draft. I'd say Gibbs, Murphy and maybe Kruezer are the only ones (if Kruezer continues with his form all year... ) of those unlikely to be there when we get towards top 4 contention. With Casboult a possibility for 2nd round pick if he kicks 40+goals. And I don't think we'd trade all three of Murphy, Gibbs & Kruez.

So, putting all that together, I think SOS would accept 2 picks for Gibbs - 1 first round, 1 second round.
Like last year, if SOS values the offer greater than what Gibbs offers us in the next 3yrs, he will do the deal.
NB: I do believe Gibbs is worth a fair bit to us over the next three years in terms of performance, leadership and guidance for the younger team coming through. But also we do very much need additional high end picks...

It really depends on how SOS rates the players he thinks will be available at the pick we would get. If he doesn't rate them, deal won't get done. No matter if it's a number 5, or a number 9. The way I see it, the only way this gets done is for a young player we know is good (Lever) and a pick (perhaps a stacked round 2) so we can accumulate points for Hopper...

Yes, that could well be.
I think the broader point is that SOS recognises we need to be thinking about how we can build our list for the medium-long term. Gibbs probably has the highest value of all players we would be prepared to trade. i.e. we would effectively be trading our short term gun to a team looking for immediate success for a player or two who would provide value over the longer term ...provided we receive the value we need. otherwise, we'd hang on to Gibbs thank you very much and take the risk that he leaves cheaply when his contract expires (although that would hopefully be when we are on the cusp and Adelaide is on the slide...).

Right. We also need to time our run, and peak when we know current contenders will be on the way down (by loss of players to trade or retirement or loss of ascendancy due to age). GWS being the team most likely to be contending for a while, SOS' knowledge of their list's shape and structure will continue to be valuable here.

Carlton has placed Sam Rowe on the long-term injury list, with Alex Silvagni now upgraded from the rookie list as his replacement.

Not sure where this leaves Byrne as far as senior games go this year

Thank you....after the freak out.

Not that he will make a difference to finals this year, but would be great to see him comeback for a stint of games before the preseason. That will do us all good.

Casboult's manager has put contract talks on hold.
Just the start of annual player exodus.

Look forward to seeing just how many clubs are going to go after Casboult when it's all said and done

To quote Darryl Kerrigan, if his manager asks for more than $450,000 and more than 3 years, "he's dreamin"
Carlton are probably prepared to give him 400-450 for 2 years me thinks...not worth a cent more IMO

Pretty sure last year it was less an exodus and more a gentle push out the door.

Carlton will offer buggar all. We're fattening up Casboult for market.
If he keeps up his form, he'll attract decent offers. How many clubs currently have a second ruckman that can contribute in the forward line? Not many.
