Pros:

Love seeing such a young (and talented) team.
Murphy and Docherty.
Fisher was encouraging.
Liked Weitering's forward work in the first half.
Nice to see SOJ kick a mini-bag.
Best game from Charlie for the year. Pity he missed those shots. It'd do his confidence no end of good, if he kicked a mini-bag himself.
Casboult's finishing.
Cripps isn't getting much of it at the moment. But love the way he contests in forward marking contests. 2 of SOJ's goals came directly.

Cons:

Our set shot kicking at goal (especially compared to their's).
Easy goals on defensive transition. I assume we struggled to match their midfield run.
3 horrible defensive turnovers that directly led to goals. 2 from Plowman. 1 from MacReadie.
Thomas' kicking.

Casboult disappointing for mine. Kicked 2 junk time goals. There must have been 5 times where he didnt half the contest.

It was an interesting performance. He took some nice marks, and finished pretty well. There was also a crunching aerial contest where he should have conceded the free, but didn't. But there were also opportunities where he simply needed to make a contest and didn't. He's a big boy. He really needs to get far more consistently physical in those marking contests.

Weitering is not an effective forward. Most of the time we go our forwrd entry through him, his immediate instinct is to sit under the ball and spoil. ie a defender's instinct. Then after Lynch was murdering us, Bolton puts Weitering back, and he looked doubly lost. The Suns would run a cheap block through another forward at Weiters, and allow Lynch free roam at the ball.

it feels like we're hurting weiter's development by swapping him and out of the froward line. the best natural defender in the team, and for his age, the best in the league. Yet we throw him forward in a structureless forward line with poor quality in entry? it's the only coaching and MC strategy that I'm in 110% disagreement over.

Bit harsh saying he is not an effective forward. Kicked 4 goals 2 in his first 3.5 games as a forward as a teenager. Second for the club in goal assists. Equal second marks inside 50 and equal third for tackles inside 50. Overall your post might be right (I'm undecided) but he's an effective forward and an appropriate option for the club at this point until others like Harry get it together.

I can't agree with the original post. I think we always look far more dangerous when Weitering plays forward. I'd love to see him kick a mini-bag soon. But he's already a terrific goal-assist player. I thought his 1st half was good, before he had to be sent back into defence.

Worst commentator in history goes to Sam Kekovitch. Watch round 4 2004 as an example (Carl v WC). He didn't last long. Just horrific.

I think it's clear the media's only interest in Carlton is if we are getting smashed.

The coaching panel have been fantastic but we let ourselves down a couple of times on the weekend. Firstly we played with Williamson or another loose in the back half in the 3rd quarter which enabled Hall to play as a loose at the stoppage. A number of times he received the ball or one of our midfielders was drawn to him which allowed another of their mids to get off the hook.
We needed a forward to push up and at the very least create a 1 on 2. When the opposition have momentum at the stoppages, you can't afford them an extra number. Hall was sitting 2 metres off the defensive side and having a picnic.
Running Daisy and another off the back of the square (especially Daisy) when we aren't winning the clearances is pointless as well.

In saying that, we were still in front in the 3rd quarter and let them off the leash with 5 goals in about 8 minutes. They're the mini lapses we need to eradicate. Also, we had plenty of momentum ourselves and didnt capitalise. Our time will come, We just need to keep working on it. Theres still a few wins up our sleeve.

2nd half of the third quarter... Spot on.
I think the concrete in the boots hit us about 20 minutes before it hit them, which was exactly what we couldn't afford.
The plus is that comparatively, the concrete boots hit the Hawks in the first quarter against them

Go you good things

PROs: My boy kicked a point in the half time AusKick game.

CONs: It was all downhill from there. Didn't see out the game, had to leave at three quarter time to get the kids to bed and make a dash to church for midnight mass.

The entire fourth quarter was junk time. 3-0 for the night is an OK return.

Honestly, don't know what else I should have expected when we play an overly tall team against a team full of fast paced players. They cut us open starting with Adam Saad, I dont think anyone laid a finger on him all night.

Also, can someone explain why people were booing Ablett?
He's one of the greats of the game and who knows if we will see him play again live.

Saad was OK in the second half and he was tackled often in the first.

Booing Abblett? So what.
