An article that acknowledges that we gave up little for the stop gap senior players and made tough decisions on guys like Zac Tuohy. Also looked at the draft and trade periods in their entirety not in isolation. Also realised there is still a lot of rubbish on the list. And didn't blow much smoke up our arses just said we were on he right track.

When the form slump inevitably comes with a lot of young players and perhaps a 100 point belting not to panic about the list or the Coach.

2019 and 13 wins should be the aim in my opinion. Not the ceiling but a realistic goal.

Still think if the cap is there a free agent isn't the worst idea... so long as the young core we have isn't split up by the contract. You could always trade out a Fyffe to get a draft pick if you wanted... Creating extra picks from nothing. A bit of outside the box thinking.

Next year should be our time to go after a F/A. We can offer huge money on a front ended contract before our younger stars command big coin.

That said, I have no idea who is available next year.

Sloane I think. Would be great but can't see it happening. Could at least inflict some salary cap pain on Adelaide by pushing up his price. Taylor Walker also a free agent.

Niall has always been one of the few that hasn't been afflicted but the superficial brush.
Never been far off the mark when writing about the Baggers.

Good article.
Shows he actually did some research rather than just write some stupid article like Monga dd.

Niall's one of the better ones, that's for sure.

Can't see when the next win comes.

I tried the Ladder predictor and except for one more game (Lions at the Gabba, which is still no gimme) we're up against it for the rest of the season. This is just the reality of where we're at.

Like last year, we'll likely still sneak off with some that won't be expected by anyone. But our best hope will be the conditions on the day, fortunes of our opposition, and of course the continued development of our kids (our experienced guys like Murph, Gibbs et al will still have the odd blinder along the way, but they can't be expected to drag us over the line on their shoulders alone like Judd used to).

I think we're playing much much better than rounds one and two.

Next week will be interesting .

I think he's been the best reporter on the game over the last 5 years. He actually provides thoughtful independent analysis (in a field where the vast majority provide knee jerk reactions, or simply repeat what their colleagues are saying).

On current form we should beat the Hawks in round 22.
Maybe we could do the unthinkable and play well against Essendon* again when we meet them later in the season. (yes that's right - play well against Essendon* twice in a season.....nah must be dreaming)

Surely we pump the filth and seal Buckley's fate! Couldn't write a better script! Maybe Wells' calf explodes in the same game (not to wish ill on the guy but the gods of irony would be lining up).

Why wouldn't we have a real chance against North
Fremantle Collingwood Brisbane Hawthorn Stkilda and even Melbourne

If we EVER take our chances in one of these games when we have our period of dominance -ie put on scoreboard pressure we are a chance
