It was cold. It was wet. It was fabulous!!! So very proud of our team. Nothing like a bit of rain to get those green shoots sprouting. Well done team and all those blues supporters who braved the conditions.

Was thinking of going but in the end I watched the game at home. My wife went to her Scum-supporting sister's place (I wasn't allowed to go as there was a chance that I would say 'something' - probably fair enough). When she came back my wife says, referring to the weather, I bet you're glad you didn't go. I replied that not going was the only thing that ruined the day.

Of course it was the one game I couldn't get to due to other commitment

So proud of the team and fantastic to see all the new faces celebrating the win. We still need to replicate this week after week but the number of 1st and 2nd year players that were playing is a real positive.

Any win against the cheats should be celebrated outrageously!

I actually braved the weather and went to the game yesterday. Was inspirational stuff by the boys.

Don't wish to go into any individual details as it was truly a team effort yesterday, watch the highlights again and everytime we did something good the boys would be all around each other in celebration. They're playing for each other this group. Very exciting too see.

*Side note:-
I know all clubs have their scumbag supporters, yes even ours, but Bomber fans are by far and away the worst IMO. Yesterday I was standing next to about half a dozen of the worst pieces of crap i have ever seen. Saying some truly disgusting stuff. What a joke. Was cheering extra loud when they left.

let me guess, Punt road end forward pocket?

Can't wait to get home and watch those Bluewashed highlights. Matter of fact, my throat's feeling a little bit sore... always best to leave early to stop the spread...

I was pessimistic in that I have a long memory, they were obviously favourites and the fear of losing to them.
But I was also quietly confident; the gap between us and them is not as big as what might be expected.
They have some quality players, but depth is shallow for them.
We outplayed them comprehensively in the rain and even on a dry day, we might have still been an outside chance. This is our arch-rivals after all.
The end result was relief at first, but one day later my pleasure grows more and more.

Loved this from Titus this morning

Saw the headline and thought 'Great, I'll enjoy this article' but not one mention of the club winning with FIVE TEENAGERS.

FFS RoCo a bag of dicks for you too :banghead: :banghead:

Apparently he had to have his piece filed by 6pm.

People still read his shit?

This is the third week where I feel the need to praise Lachie Plowman.

He really has become a leader in that back 6 and just plays the system so well. In a game where the simple skills are so difficult to execute, this guy still comes out with an efficiency of 90+% from 19 touches. He backs himself in the air and backs his decisions when he has the ball. That belief he has in himself and our system is what has been lacking since 2010/11. SPS seems that way as well.

Good signs.

Gotta say, from what I've seen so far, the crop of kids we've got coming through a the moment are the best the Club has had in years.

Some people on here have no idea. Kerridge is the last person you should be calling a squib.

Great game, what I saw of it. This year the OS streaming has been crap compared to other years. Chrome won't even load it here. I had messages on two laptops and my phone saying I had to be outside Australia and the stream wasn't available in my region (after watching two previous rounds and half this game).

I sent them a message asking for my money back. You others who said the stream was shit should do the same. Otherwise they will just do nothing.

Great hard-fought game by the boys. I gave them no chance, I will admit but I don't care.

Two BIG highlights for me this week.
Murphy's game after he wasted a lot of possies last week, topped off with two sensational goals.
Williamson.

Lesser highlights:
The back six won their game pretty well.
SPS had a couple of super touches
We played wet weather footy like they used to in the sixties and kept the footy moving forward at all costs.
We're 1-2, which is better than last year's start or at least equal to it.

Lowlights:
SPS handed off to Gibbs early on for a point. Gibbs has to let the kids have a ping if they are inside fifty. The older heads have to learn to trust the newbys.
I missed all the second half goals in between trying to resurrect the stream on various devices.
No song.

Bring on next week, hopefully with a better stream, even though I will be in Guadalajara.

Nah he really isn't the last person you could say that about. Not sure his head was in danger of being kicked off either and he was only doing what he is supposed to be doing match in match out so he gets absolutely no bonus points from me for doing that. I have seen enough of him to think he doesn't always put his body on the line or take that extra step.

And when you say years, you'd be referring to to about 1976/78 - when we had, Buckley, Sheldon, Harmes, Marcou, McConnville, Francis, Young, Brown, Johnston who all went on to play in the 1979 Grand Final - 5 years before the Carlton hating media hijacked the term "Baby" and applied it to those pack of C#%£€ at Windy Hill.

Buckley, Shelton and Harmes still being 19 years old when they played in that 1979 Grand Final.

I notice that our Mosquito Fleet moniker has also been 'stolen' as well.

I'm still catching up with the comments, but this needs a bump.

Well played, Sir.
