Bombers have some players back and an attitude forged at the coalface of the [REDACTED] dopehead kingdom.

That'll keep them on the up for a little bit whilst we continue to invest in a long term future.

I'd much rather be in out position at the moment than theirs.

And I'm with BV. Not penciling in a Bombers win at this stage by any means.

To use the words of another poster on this site.
"I will eat a shit sandwich if we kick 6 unanswered goals against the bombers on the weekend "

I didn't say we would kick 6 unanswered goals. I was making the point they have significant lapses in games. I actually said I wouldn't be surprised to see us get up.
So, I can take it you'll eat a shit sandwich and Agro will walk naked up Bourke Street in a stooped position if we win?

Something is not right -
Last year we won 7 games and basically lost touhy and walker only players of substance
We have a fit captain brought in a brilliant defender in Marchbank and have another preseason into some players
Essendon**** won 3 games have 5 or 6 players who were a year out of footy and we are going in this week as rank outsiders
I don't know if it is Bolton and his coaching methods or the players are just dumb - But something happened in off season that has turned the team from a team on the rise into a basket case
Bolton needs substance and results - players supporters etc will soon grow tired of clichés -
coaching is not easy I think everyone knows that but it is no different to management at times
You have to produce results and tangible results not stats on a piece of paper

Last year we lost 15 games. So far we've lost 2.
Last year we lost our first 4 games. So far we've lost 2. How does that make us a basket case?

BV what I am trying to get my head around is how on earth are we rank outsiders this week.
Bombers 3 and 19 now 2 and 0
Blues 7 and 15 now 0 and 3
If they get over us this weekend they have already surpassed what they did last year . How??
Before the season started I was expecting improvement on last year, right now it is not looking that way.
How can we be going into a game against a team that finished 2nd last on 3 wins paying $4.50 and they are $1.23

They had a long hard year with top up players and knowing half the side wouldn't be there etc. We had the new coach honey moon period and lifted as a group to win those 6 from 7 games. But once our intensity fell off, reality set in....our list was very ordinary and we finished the year accordingly.

They have all the players back, and playing with passion after 2 years of hell. We are ground zero basically and playing kids. The club also said it expected to maybe not improve this year as it is in rebuild phase.

No mystery at all for mine.

My first post on the main board in months and after reading the last few pages of this thread, it'll probbaly be a few months before my next.

We need patience.

I know we've needed patience for the last 10 years or so, but Bolton has done so much to bring our backwards club up to speed that he should be thanked for that alone, regardless of the on field stuff.

As to the on field stuff, last year didn't we have one of the older lists in the league and now we have one of the younger lists.

Bolton is trying to get a core group of quality kids together to build something genuine. We know this will take time.

Who cares what Beveridge did. Who cares what any other club did. They're just reference points that have little to do with how things are being done at our club.

We'll win a few games this year and maybe only a few more in 2018. That much was probably clear when Bolton was appointed. So what's the issue?

Most agree Bolton needs time, but that doesn't make him off limits to criticism.

Malthouse drove me nuts the way he stupidly made pressers about himself vs journos instead of using pressers to talk with a bit of substance to members.

Just don't want Bolton dishing up babble like he did recently. Not to much to ask.

Anyway, recruiters are the most important factor in the FD in my opinion. A coach who can engage the players is the icing on the cake.

Easily out coached the Essendon* coaching group yesterday. Our defensive structures were excellent which is also a credit to our on field leaders. Not just our back 6 but also our forward press was also exceptional. The difference in our team defence compared to when Malthouse was here couldn't be more stark.
Average footballers are playing their roles and with the support of an excellent structure, they are becoming vital components. It also offers the opportunity for players like Williamson to come in and flourish knowing they are well supported and instructed.

Special mention to Sam Rowe. His ability to shut out the oppositions best tall forwards is enabling our other defenders to play a more aggressive game.
