Bolts will be here this year and most likely next. Hawthorn supporters regularly bleated about Clarko in the first couple of years. Not whinging now.

I think Bolton's done a good job. I don't like us being shit but we are what we are. Mostly, we are competitive and (if done properly) it will take time.

Also think modern dynasties are built on more than the coach - it needs the recruiting department, the board, the players, everyone to buy in. It appears the club is trying desperately hard to achieve this

I don't think we are that far away as regards the list. We have the spine. We have some mids we need more, everyone knows that. Some are already playing, others are in the NBs. More need to be recruited.

It is about development and getting games in to players.

It takes 4 to 5 seasons to rebuild
Mcartney did the heavy lifting for beveridge. Mcartney instilled the hardness while developing the kids. Beveridge walks in with a list. Thompson starts in 1999 and wins one in 2007. 8 years.
All the north players of the 70s say Brian Dixon taught them to play and it was set up for Barrassi.
Bolton is doing this from ground zero. Very different from Buckley. Start to judge Bolton in the second half of 2019
Lets back him in.

Great post.

It's really frustrating to hear people say that Beveridge built a premiership over 2 years. The Dogs starting rebuilding 5 years before he came along! He was the cherry on top.

Well said , I agree totally Bolton started with bare wilderness, CFC rebuild will take 3to4 years easily. Meanwhile the changes are palpable almost , no dispute Bolton is our man . We've not been enthusiastic with expectation for many years enjoy the journey.

Last year we won 7 games and basically lost touhy and walker only players of substance
We have a fit captain brought in a brilliant defender in Marchbank and have another preseason into some players
Essendon* won 3 games have 5 or 6 players who were a year out of footy and we are going in this week as rank outsiders
I don't know if it is Bolton and his coaching methods or the players are just dumb - But something happened in off season that has turned the team from a team on the rise into a basket case
Bolton needs substance and results - players supporters etc will soon grow tired of clichés -
coaching is not easy I think everyone knows that but it is no different to management at times
You have to produce results and tangible results not stats on a piece of paper

a rebuild takes however long it takes the recruiters to get their trades/draft picks right - you can't put a number of years on that

a coach that can engage those players is the icing on the cake

We were never a team on the rise last year.

Expectations of us being a team on the rise start next season.

Sustained success is the golden egg we are after.

I'm not interested in a flash in the pan successful season or two then slip away again.

That picture of the young lads in the blue out jumpers says it all.

These guys have hardly played any games, let alone together.

Our nucleus of committed, talented leaders is still being formed.

Sack the coach if you want, the players will disperse and we'll be a rabble yet again.

We need to be unified as a club, patient as supporters and realistic with our expectations.

If we go back this year we fall further behind the rest of the pack.
Bombers won 3 games last year. They are likely to equal that 3 games into this year.
Sanctions draft penalties ageing players along with a sprinkling of youth.

I am not saying sack the coach .I am questioning how we can accept going backwards

Blues 7 and 15 now 0 and 3
If they get over us this weekend they have already surpassed what they did last year . How??
Before the season started I was expecting improvement on last year, right now it is not looking that way.
How can we be going into a game against a team that finished 2nd last on 3 wins paying $4.50 and they are $1.23

Can only work with the cattle you've got. And in the AFLs's profit driven agenda, the best of the cattle go interstate at the expense of clubs like Carlton. Added to that an absolutely dismal record of recruiting by Carlton, we are where we are today.

I wouldn't be putting the cue in the rack yet. The Bombers are good when they get the game on their terms but they've shown in both their games they can be heavily scored against. The Lions kicked about 6 unanswered goals last week to get back into the game. I wouldn't be surprised to see us get up.
