Lewis also grabbed Weitering by the throat and hung on for a good 30+ seconds during the melee.

Carlton star Patrick Cripps suffered a minor jaw fracture on the weekend. Will be assessed this week. More on http://AFL.com.au soon.

I'd suggest that this diagnosis wasn't on the Medical Report we supplied the AFL yesterday.

No Good Bloke Discount, but Lewis will probably get a gig on Ch7 /Fox Footy over the next few weeks to soften the bow.

Great to see that Wietering was the 1st one on the scene to fly the flag though, also saw SPS in there dragging somebody off the pile. Maybe not yet but I have a feeling that SPS in a year or 2 will be 1 hombre nobody would want to mess with

Jacob should and others should have held Lewis down until the cops got there. There is no place for a coward punch in our society.

Any reason why he should not be charged with assault. Any number of witnesses and video evidence.

Watching the replay of the hit Cripps hit I'm not sure what was more pathetic the Lewis hit or the cowardly way the so called hard man Viney knocked Cripps over after being hit.
He wasn't even man enough to hang around for repercussions.

We need to get Diesel Williams back to the club to teach our mids the art of the 'bottom of the pack where neither the umps or the cameras can see you' square up. I remember seeing people hit Diesel and he would be running around telling them 'you'll get yours mate'. 10 mins later there would be a pack of players on the ground, as they all disentangled and stood up Diesel would be one of the last off the ground, the very last would be the bloke who hit him 10 mins ago bleeding from the mouth and nose. Diesel would then look positively wounded if questions were asked about how this bloke on the ground had been injured in the tangle of bodies. Everyone knew it was a square-up. Diesel, Wayne Johnstone and Jimmy Buckley were 3 of the hardest blokes I've ever seen on a footy field. in an era of hard men they were 3 blokes you would have to think long and hard about sniping. They would have eaten a bloke like Lewis for breakfast.

Lewis hit Cripps because he was making an impact on turning the game. The Ch 7 coverage interviewed their coach at 3/4 time and he mentioned that Cripps was troubling them, should have seen it then that a dog like Lewis would take it upon himself to snipe crippa. Rowe was obviously in the head of Hogan. Although it is a harsh way to see things, both snipes say more about our players having an impact and getting inside an opponents head than they do about their guys being tough. Imagine Lewis giving away a free kick in the goal square for something like that in a final.

Problem is they know they can intimidate us and get away with it, we are piss weak and have been for years. Every club knows this, we will never turn the corner until we have a line in the sand game. We had a big chance to do that yesterday, someone should have knocked both Lewis and Hogan into next week and really hurt them, they should have been hit as brutally as possible. We are not playing for finals ffs, if our best player in Cripps is attacked like that. I expect a retaliation so brutal every team in the Comp will remember what happens if you cross the line with us! Lewis should have been in hospital last night along with Hogan. At least 10 of our players should have been suspended after that. Jeebus H Christ why do they bother having boxing lessons.

I agree with you. I've said it before but if you want to fight then get in the ring, the cage or on the mats against a trained opponent who is expecting you to fight them and in a controlled environment with a referee there. If you hit an unsuspecting person with your bare knuckles on the sports field you're no better than someone who does it on the street. I know I'd lose my job for putting someone's health and safety at risk like that but some footy players still think it makes them a tough guy.

A beatiful post.................dont reckon anyone should be squealing. In fact it makes me sick.We have had more than our share of hard men over the years and the sooner we develop some toughies the better. We need to be feared again to be great again.......................dont complain, get even.

Really surprised they didn't get away with it, we've been AFL approved pinatas for a good decade at least. This good little lap dog shit the club has been doing for 15 years has got us nowhere. None of us should ever forget just how hated we are. In the agenda driven media and the AFL itself. Bob Chitty would be turning in his grave.

He has scans last night. I would have thought the medical report would be given to them today.
Garry Lyon this morning suggested that Cripps milked it a bit, Hope he offers an apology tomorrow.

Very good player and would have been a star as the fifth midfielder but just doesn't have the presence to be the gun leader/midfielder we need.

Ditto for Gibbs.

Lose to Essendon** next Sunday and our status as the laughing stock of the AFL will be official.

I think you have us confused with the Gold Coast and Fremantle.
