Despite only 48% time on ground Charlie won the second most clearances of any Carlton player against St Kilda. Also remember he spent a fair portion of his time on ground up forward as well.

Natural ball winner. Why WOULDN'T you give him some time on the ball given the lack of ball winners in the Carlton team?

I can't see a matchup for Rowe this game. Martin is the worry resting forward.

And Cotchin resting forward.
Both of them have the ability to kick 2 or 3 v quick goals when resting forward.

I feel we can mind them around the ground but then worried about a mismatch when they go forward.

In a probable understatement, we're a chance.
We'll win games this year, and we do every year. Tigers will be a bottom 8 side, so on paper, we're a chance.

I reckon Sheehan could do a job on Martin.

Then there's Plowman or Docherty who could stick with Martin too.

I'd put Docherty on Cotchin

In all due respect to Sheehan, if he were to play on Dusty, it would be the last game he ever played.

I like the idea of Plowman on Dusty when he goes forward. Just to see what would happen and if Plowman could keep up with him.

Plowman struggled badly with Petracca. Not sure why he'd find Dustin Martin any easier.

Badly?

You see I don't think the damage was done on Plowman. ie Plowman didn't lower his colours to Petracca.
IMO it was a case of a badly outnumbered defence where our mids refused to follow up their mids and they cut us up: everyone.

You only have to look at Dees goals to see plenty of Dees players were ahead of the ball, behind the defence, let alone outnumbering the defenders.

Plowman and other defenders had no chance. There was nothing resembling team defence.

Turnovers give such an advantage that even Bruce Doull would look the fool.

A bit harsh on Plowman in a JLT game with experimentation happening with personnel all over the ground.

One on one I believe Lachie has the strength and pace to go with Dustin. That's all.
He's a good defender.

Lets see what happens.

Balmy glorious autumn weather to continue, love the Thursday night opener, always a chance against Richmond, and as Frank says, the best walk in Football. Excited.

The dates are a bit weirder this year?

Based on the Freo effort, we will lose this by about 50 points.

Would love to see SPS, but that's unrealistic given he hasn't played. Hope Cuningham plays next week ahead of others like Thomas, Palmer and Kerridge.

I think we will be lucky to get within 5 goals unless they have an off night and the ball just keeps bouncing our way.

Plowman Weiters ??
Doc March Simmo
Murph Cripps Cunningham
Wright Cas Pickett
Charlie Mckay SOJ
Kreuz Ed Gibbs
Palmer Fisher Lebois Smedts

That's the team i would like to see play round 1, even though I know it won't be. Don't know who our third small defender is until Byrne is back.
Were most likely gonna loose, i would rather loose with fisher, lebois and Mackay in the team then spuds like Rowe and Daisy. BTW Cunningham and fisher are already better than Daisy anyway.
We better not play 5 key defenders either, I don't think that has ever worked for any team,

After last night's game against Freo I doubt Thomas and Palmer would be picked.
I'd add Smedts to that lot too.

I was impressed with Alex Silvagni, especially now that Weitering looks the goods as a KPF.

Murphy and Gibbs will have to remind themselves we expect them to be match winners not plodders.
Last nights stats showed about 30 possessions each but they were easy receives and just bombed away.

Run and carry boys!!!!
Break lines boys !!!
