1. Charlie Curnow - match winner written all over him.

2. SPS - we need elite mids to partner Cripps and this guy could be a damaging star player.

3. Weitering - could well be called the best player in the league at some stage in his career. So young so he still should have heaps of improvement in him.

4. Jack Silvagni - leads so hard, straight and aggressive. Knows where the goals are and has heaps of physical development ahead of him. Could be good for 2-3 goals a game once he's fully developed.

For 2017:

Jack - Has the desperate attitude and charisma of his dad. Need.
SPS - We have to nail our top picks in a few consecutive drafts. All top 10 picks have the talent. We need the attitude to match (e.g. Cripps, Weitering)
Charlie - showed more than I expected of him in 2016. But will need to take the next step - either by showing more or showing similar but more often.
Marchbank - we just really need him to be worthy of our efforts (particularly after the disappointment of Jaksch - although I STILL hope he will come good...)

Notes:
Harry - I would be amazed if Harry has any impact at all this season, beyond perhaps the odd nice moment to show that he will become what we need in future years. These beanstalks take a fair bit of time and he was (is?) particularly stringy. I doubt he will be as good as Darcy Moore who I think will become an absolute star of the game and even he has taken a few years to really stamp his authority on SOME games.

Wouldn't it be nice - I would love to see more from Cunningham - TBH, he didn't seem so fantastic but admittedly not much exposed form to go from.
It would be great to see something special from 'Zippy' Fisher - he must have it to get selected so high at his size.
The other young draftees - not expecting much really. Hoping for the best but the odds are generally against more than a couple of guns per year emerging from picks beyond 2nd round.

Special mention - looking forward to further improvement from Plowman. I think that he can really drive us to become the best backline core in the comp toegether with Weitering, Docherty and Marchbank if he is as good as we hope.

I expect him to have a tougher time of it this year.

We know he is going to be great - exciting, yes. But I am more excited about the prospects of some of the other who we are less sure of b/c if we can add them to those we know will be great, that is truly exciting.

The fact we have so many we are talking about says we are in a good position:

Silvagni, SPS, McKay, Jaksch (still young), Sumner, Marchbank, Plowman, Weitering, Le Bois, Fisher, McCreadie, Cuningham, Polson, Kerr, Pickett, Curnow is a lot to choose from.

Not all will push forward this year and not all will make it.

If I had to pick four for THIS year for production, it would be: Weitering (no brainer), Plowman, Silvagni and Curnow

If I had to pick four best over the long term, I think its: Weitering, Marchbank, Plowman and Curnow

The four I hope improve this year and become best 22/long termers are: Jaksch, Fisher, McKay, Pickett

If those last four make the improvement/jump to best 22 this year, we are a long way to heading back into the big time.

As an aside, I have high hopes McCreadie can cut it and become a player too. Might not do much for our relationship with GWS but it will say something for SOS's ability to pick talent and give us flexibility and depth.

Jacob Weitering - poise and precision in our backline was exciting to see last year as opposed to the Bower years of panicked running and rushed disposals.

Harry McKay - just want him to have an injury free season and develop his game sense this year. Long term I want him to be our 2nd ruckman giving Phillips a chop out each quarter.

Cameron Polson - Just have the feeling that SOS has picked an absolute steal for us here. His highlight reel oozes class. I expect him to cement a place in the 22 this year.

SPS - A mate of mine coached him in Claremont colts as a 16 year old and said he is just freakish with what he can do on the field. Hope that transfers into open age footy as well.

Re Harry McKay, was speaking to someone who worked with him in Gippsland.
He said that we should be really excited about this guy b/c of his talent and apparently has grown more...
However, he also said that he suspects his brother may turn out to be better even though not as talented b/c he has more of an aggressive attitude.
Hope he is right in the first instance and I don't really care if Ben is better, as long as McKay is still one of the top 3 forward/ruckmen in the comp... :-).

For mine, I'm not really expecting any significant impact at all from Harry this year and possibly even next year beyond the odd highlight moment. And would be good to see that he is competitive.

Harry McKay is exceptionally competitive, and loves the physicality!

Excited that Marchbank is easy to forget due to Samo, Fisher, Pickett, Cunningham, etc. being good prospects.
