JACK Silvagni will continue a seven-decade dynasty when he wears the No.1 guernsey for Carlton next season.

Silvagni, 18, was presented with the number worn by his father Stephen in 312 games and grandfather Sergio (227 games) on the Grand Canal in Venice when the family recently re-traced its Italian origins.

“‘Walks’ (Andrew Walker) initially approached the club about his No.1 going to me and the club asked Dad,” the 193cm, 88kg Silvagni said on Thursday.

I think Jack should have kept #2 and left #1 for Ben.

Always thought Jack should have taken 11. Serge's 1 and Stephen's 1, and both Serge and Stephen played with Doull. Had a nice symmetry to it. Still, happy that Jack will be in 1 :)

“So it was a very tough decision and I made sure I spoke with John Nicholls, who understood my decision."

Its great to have a young recruit who understands and respects the history of the club. It wasn't all about Jack.
From a cultural view point, I really like the direction we are heading in under our new regime.

Quote:
Taken at pick six overall at Friday’s AFL national draft, Sam Petrevski-Seton will inherit the Club’s famous No.5 guernsey, previously worn by club greats including Chris Judd, Andrew McKay and indigenous champion Syd Jackson.

Fellow recruits Zac Fisher will don the No.25, Cam Polson heads to No.29, Tom Williamson in No.31, Harrison Macreadie will wear No.26, while Patrick Kerr, grandson of Carlton great Laurie Kerr, will forge his career in the No.36.

New utility Billie Smedts will take on the No.16 guernsey, while Caleb Marchbank is set to have a long career at the Blues in the No.22. Former Giants players Rhys Palmer and Jarrod Pickett will wear No.24 and No.33 respectively.

Jesse Glass-McCasker will move to the No.40 guernsey, previously vacated by Michael Jamison. Rookie Kym LeBois will take on the No.42 guernsey, while Carlton childhood supporter Alex Silvagni will wear the No.44.

Couldn't they have given #10 to Smedts and moved Harry to something else? I really want Harry to do well.

Bluebaggers with a No.2 Woolmark woollen guernsey, never fear!

With Jack Silvagni continuing his career in the famous No.1 jumper, the Club would like to extend a special offer to all Carlton supporters who currently have the No.2 stitched on the back of their long-sleeved guernsey.

Just bring your woollen Woolmark jumper into The Carlton Shop before Wednesday 14 December, and we’ll unstitch the No.2 and replace it with the No.1 – at no cost to you!

All jumpers will be ready for collection before our opening clash with the Tigers at the MCG next year.

If Dylan Buckley doesn't pull his finger out and with only a year deal then he can have his Freo Number 7 !!!
