I was optimistic we could push into the 10-14 range for next year, maybe a little higher if things went really well.

The pick of Alex Silvagni clears makes us wooden spooners.

You choose to just mistreating yourself, when you can treat yourself with optimism right up to the first Thursday game of 2017 and have a ripper summer without losing a penny.

I'm more concerned about the effect SPS only learning English 4 years ago will have.

We can make the eight if our forward line starts to function in 2017. We have a number of options up front now, that although young, will surely increase our scoring output.

My target as of today would be 8-10 wins.

If 'South Australian' is a separate dialect, then yes, I concur.

As usual at this time of year I am optimistic. Whilst a number of teams below us will improve, for me it comes down to our centre clearances and our forwards (holding it in, and kicking straight). If we can improve in these areas we are (say) a 4-5 goal better side without doing much else and that makes a huge difference. Like others I hope we now have the cattle - in smedts, picket and Sps we have the potential of lifting our small forward crumbing and pressure and if our young talls can go up a cog we should improve there as well. Not so sure about our centre clearances - there were games when Gibbs and Cripps were on fire but we seemed to get smashed too often in the middle.
I think our recruiting as well as familiarity with bolts' plan should continue to bring turnovers down. So lots of possibility... But who knows how they will handle pressure.
I am going for a 8-9win season and a 12th - 10th finish.

But I hope we get a flag.

Obviously there's a difference between what I want and what I expect.

I want to win the flag.

I expect to win 6 games.

Trying to work out if being overly optimistic in the preseason is good or bad.

The downside, as all tigers supporters will tell you, is that reality leaves you crushed.
The good side is that you whilst you have six months of heartache, you still get 6 months of joy.

If I am not optimistic I get 6 months of depression followed by 6 months of 'well I suppose that was less painful that I feared.'

I think SOS is right. We're on the right track, but we may win less games next year. It's smart to get it out nice and early too. Hopefully will stop supporters being crushed, if we struggle next year. Also takes pressure off Bolton, and allows him to get on with his job.

I don't anticipate short term improvement. In fact, we may take another half step backwards.

I'm comfortable with the long term approach we're taking, but 6 wins next year is realistic.

I expect to break even with last year's performance.

A lot will depend on how much we can improve the forward line's output.
That was what held us back last year from snagging a few more upset wins.

We have added more options in our midfield, and the young players should have a great development year, but there are still a lot of questions marks around the core mids.
Cripps - how bad is his back?
Murphy - starting to have serious doubts about his durability
Gibbs - will he sook? He had a good year last year, if he drops off a lot then it could really screw us.
Daisy - will he continue to get games? Can he improve? What will happen with the contract option, etc
Boekhurst - will he step up? was he a wasted pick?

If we can match last year, and get some sort of forward line structure in place, and Cripps plays out the year without major injury worries, then that will make me happy

10th place should be a realistic goal
