In the last 4 years we will have added the following picks to the list:

1. Weitering
2. Thomas
3. Plowman
4. Pickett
5. Tonight's pick
6. Marchbank
7. Palmer
8. McKay
9.
10. Sumner
11. Curnow
12. Docherty Jaksch
13. Cripps
14.
15. Smedts
16.
17.
18.
19. Boekhurst Cuningham
20.
FS. Silvagni

These guys have something special that stands out, apart from that beautiful Dark Navy Blue jumper. They all play a part to play in a team effort, towards Flag 17.
Thomas is probably cooked, and Jaksch is on his last chance, but otherwise, other than Palmer, with a good preseason and development we can only look forward their improvement in 2017 and beyond.

I know other teams improve and some lose form, but imo the future outlook continues to improve for Bolton and SOS' Blues.

So excited about tonight. Picks 5, 25, 44, 55, 72 and then Mondays 4-5 new rookies. I cannot wait for 2016, to be behind us.

I think the height of the average AFL player is around 188cm.

We've got a lot of relative 'midgets' on our list (sub 183cm): Murphy, Simpson, Buckley, Lamb, Sumner, Palmer, Armfield, Graham, Curnow, Pickett, Wright, Petrevski-Seton, Fisher and Polson.

At least in theory, if they're good enough you can make it work. But I wonder how many we can have in the team at the one time.

We need to go hard for HBFs over the next few years. Pick players that might be able to move to the midfield. What can go wrong?

Not the end of the world being 175cm if you are a midfielder:

Dayne Zorko - 174cm
Lachie Neale - 176cm
Dion Prestia - 175cm
Devon Smith - 175cm
Brent Harvey - 175cm
Caleb Daniel - 168cm

Note that the likes of Sam Mitchell, Kieran Jack and Luke Dalhaus are all around 178cm.

I love most of what SOS has done.

Added plenty of speed, zip and skill.... and added Marchbank and McCreadie to defence.

Silvagni the only howler imho.

All in all

I was surprised along with everyone else despite the rumours he was coming.
I think there's a message in that selection.

I'm guessing:
Remain competitive. Select teams to win if injuries hit us and kids aren't ready.
Kids are no longer sacrificial lambs.

If so.....come on the new outlook Blues!

On the flip side, the reason I am underwhelmed with our rookie selections is because the rest of the list has not looked better in 20 years.

And another 2 small forwards on the list. And another hardened body, but undersized key position defender. :yikes:

Overall, I'm really happy with the direction the club's heading in, and some of the talent that's been brought in. But there have some elements of our drafting over the last few days that have been a bit puzzling.
