My father passed away a few months.

During his Blues supporting lifetime he saw in person 11 of their 16 premierships, was a founding member of the Social Club, a member for over 70 years and raised four Carlton mad children.

Yesterday we buried his ashes with Mum's in the memorial garden at his local church.

But we kept some aside and thanks to Al Pfeiffer and his ground management team at Carlton we were able to scatter these remaining ashes at Princes Park. This I duly did in a wonderful little ceremony with my three sisters and our families in the goalsquare at the Heatley Stand end each of us taking turns while singing "We Are The Navy Blues".

I have only been back to PP once since that last game against Melbourne so it was great to be there again even with the Heatley and Members stand gone. I just had to close my eyes to remember what it was like sitting in the Gardiner stand as a boy banging my feet on the wooden floor as another goal sailed through.

I am sure Dad would have been happy with the send off.

Sounds like a good send off, God.

All the best.

Great post and brought a lump to my throat. My dad was a lifelong Carlton man and would have happily had a few of his ashes scattered there as well.
My sister is Collingwood and my brother is Essendon*.
They don't get it at all.

Sorry for your loss. It's the worst day of your life when you lose your dad.

Condolences GNB.

What a way to go. Well done. Very thoughtful.

I wish my kids would do the same. I'll show them this post.
This has been discussed in our household.

Great memories.

Condolences to you. I feel for you.

I lost my Carlton supporting father last November, a very sobering time. He is buried across the road from Princes Park.
its a nice thing to be able to visit Dad and then walk across the road to see whats going on at PP, then walk back and tell Dad whats going on.
