What a shambles of a playing list.

I wouldn't base decisions on today's game.

When our intensity is down, we are exposed, but so is every team.

80% of games we were highly competitive.

We have limited depth, but that's why we are year one of a 66 game rebuild. 22 down.

Average it out on the last 11.

Continue building the spine, especially tall forwards. We can't just bank on McKay being a success.
There's plenty of time to build the midfield.
I'm looking forward to having more hope after the 2016 draft.

A season is 22 games.

Pretty clear we are short on mids so no way we'll trade Gibbs.

If Marchbank comes we can afford to lose a hbf so Tuohy is the only trade option of value.
Tuohy and a future pick for O'Meara

I suspect we may make a fairly big play for O'Meara.
Along the lines of trading our pick 5 plus a player (Touhy?) in return for O'Meara and one of Gold Coast's late 1st rounders. Perhaps we throw in another reasonable player as well - maybe even someone like White who gives his all and may be valued as a solid citizen role player which is what GC needs (they have enough brash young guns and draft picks).
This would cost us a v high pick but gain an additional 1st rounder (O'Meara +1).
If this is available, I reckon we'd go for it b/c given our lack of tradeable players, there are not too many ways to get additional early picks.

I'd also trade Gibbs for a top 10 pick. Yes, I know the chances of replacing Gibbs with someone who turns out to be as good are 50/50 but Gibbs will not be around when we get back to the top (or will be towards the end of his career) whereas the young top 10 pick will be there.

I would consider trading future picks but reluctant to trade future 1st round picks (unless we are confident the next draft is particularly bad - but if that is the case, it will be factored into the value of that pick anyway...)

Pick 1 is on the cards for us next year so we might not want to throw that in the mix.

Tend to agree it will be around there.

I just can't make up my mind if it's by design or just a true reflection of our team.

We did field some seriously top heavy unbalanced teams this year. We never added running players when it looked like that is what we needed. We played kids that didn't look ready with Jacob, Curnow, SOS and Cunny.
We stuck with big lumps of forwards who didn't offer anything. We played players that were seriously out of form. Nursed players to their milestones. We left players to prove themselves in the twos all year. I am not saying we tanked it but it did look like we were sticking to a pre determined plan based around learning, enduring and enduring some more... with a hint of a 66 game list rebuild thrown in for good measure.

Next year I expect us to take another step backwards in order to go forward. I just hope we can limit scores against a little more and play a tight system similar to the start of 16'.

Lucky we have all that meaningful recent success to fall back on and get us through the tough times.

Will depend on how many changes to the list this time around. the deeper the cull, the more likely the prospect.

But what would I know, I thought 3-4 games was our lot this year !

I'm thinking an improved attitude will see us around the same number of wins, maybe 1 or 2 more, with a younger and better talented first 22 selected for most games.

There was certainly a level of belligerence in selection decisions. Some of which seemed to pay off as the season progressed.

I think we will play and select players the same way regardless (in large part) if the right player is available or not.

Have heard (BF from a reasonably reliable poster) that Dick and Foster were two of them.

Notable as none of DVR, Tutt or any of the rookies were among the names yet.

I think I am going to be delisted from TC shortly... been told the fingers are not as good as they used to be, and not enough controversial discussions :hitcomputer: :hitcomputer:

On a serious note, does anyone know when the contract of Daisy Thomas finishes? please don't tell me he is got another 2-3 years to go?? I just can't handle seeing this burnt footballer still playing for our Club...
