Boakhurst won't survive if he's out of contract. Silvagni based his argument to have Shane Rogers sacked because he selected Boakhurst with our first round pick. SOS said he was a third round or fourth round pick if that.

Boekhorst has apparently recently signed a contract extension until the end of 2017.

Boekhorst has re-signed.

Boakhurst in major trouble - hasn't played all year!

Shocker of a deal.

I've taken a fairly simply approach to this, having not seen any reserves footy. I've simply added the retirements to the list of uncontracted players at (http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-11/z ... n-new-deal) and looked at the players who haven't played much senior footy. This gives a list of 8 players to cull from the senior list, 9 if Daisy retires.

I suspect we wouldn't cut deeper then 8 or 9 from the main list, unless we trade a lot of players in. We haven't cut contracted players in recent seasons, so I'm assuming this trend runs true.

Delist
1. Michael Jamison
2. Andrew Walker
3. Matthew Dick
4. Jayden Foster
5. Clem Smith
6. Jason Tutt
7. Dillon Viojo-Rainbow
8. Mark Whiley
9. Dale Thomas? (assuming he retires)

Keep
Nick Graham
Kade Simpson, free agent
Dennis Armfield, free agent
Dylan Buckley
Zac Tuohy
Matthew Wright

A number of those above would be looking at short term deals I would suggest.

Keep or trade
Levi Casboult
Andrejs Everitt (possible delist if trade not found and the club wants to keep one of the players I've marked as delist).

I want to cut so much deeper than this but the reality is that we will not have the ability to replace them with anything. Even these delistings will be difficult to replace once we get to our 5th round selection....and we don't have much currency at the trade table either. Can't wait to see if SOS can weave some magic but I'm feeling uncertain. This whole issue may well take several years.

Damn that Essendon* loss is hurting. Can't wait to see the presser. The media spin usually leaves me feeling better in some small way.....

Cut anyone who can't kick and doesn't have the ability to give an effort.

Will the AFL allow us to field 6-8 players next season?

I suppose today's effort really highlighted that we are like Swiss cheese, we have so many holes across the ground to cover. I was tempted to jump on "get Omera" camp but we need to keep going to the well and bring in quality players. I have more faith now after last years recruiting and with the new recruiting team.

And to think people were paid to deliver this list to the CFC.

What a shambles of a playing list.

We have a half dozen or so good players and the rest are either good players who pick and choose or bush league players.

Carlton has played above their ability most of the season. But, we have had a good game plan to get us through.

Bombers were always a chance against us today, as we really don't have a great list. Our list isn't much better than the bombers this year. Malthouse culled our list so bad that we are missing a lot of talent and rock bottom. Hence why we won the spoon last season.

Today was a sign of the next two seasons until young players develop. Expect a bumpy road.

Hopefully we can snare Jaegar and a few other free agents in the right age profile.

Just use every single of our picks in this up coming draft on tall forwards.
Worry about other position deficiencies in future drafts.

Malthouse culled our list?
Betts was a mistake. If you think Garlett, Robinson and Waite would make a material difference you are dreaming. Sam Jacobs would have helped. The 18 first and second round draft picks we traded away or blew is the majority of the problem

Would love a Josh Kennedy (Sydney) or Callan Ward type at the club. We need their leadership and grit in the midfield to help out Cripps.

Neither of those are going anywhere though and not sure of any players of a similar ilk that are available.

Maybe Mitchell from Sydney could grow into it, would have been nice to go for Brad Crouch.

That's the only way I'd do it, no trading away our first round picks for the next three years.

I'd trade Gibbs for a top 10 pick based only on his age and that he won't be a part of our team when it's in the top four. An 18 yo player from the draft will be 22-23 and in their prime. Obviously, for him, he could have a shot at a flag with a team who is challenging. Providing we draft well, it'd be a wise move for us and for him. Short term loss for medium/long term gain. I wouldn't get rid of Gibbs for any other reason. I'm with those who think he picks and chooses when to go, but he has had a good year and his best is elite. He will fill a spot until we can do better. Murphy missing for most of the season has hurt us in the engine room.

I'm concerned that if we gave up Gibbs for O'Meara, or anything for O'Meara, that it ends up being a Daisy/Kruze type scenario where we end up with a player who has amazing potential but who never realises it due to injury. It would pay off if his body came right but our medical staff signed off on Daisy, and blind Freddy can see that he is trying his guts out but his body is letting him down, and he is baked. I'd offer a 2nd round pick for him, but that won't get the deal done and we all know that. They expect a player, not a draft pick. I just don't know how you could justify giving anything serious up for a player who has been out for so long and may be damaged goods.

I wouldn't base decisions on today's game.

When our intensity is down, we are exposed, but so is every team.

80% of games we were highly competitive.

We have limited depth, but that's why we are year one of a 66 game rebuild. 22 down.
