Thanks to aboynamedsue who has agreed to pay $100 for the tickets which will then be donated directly to the Luke Batty Foundation, in line with the Carlton Respects campaign this week.

And don't forget the debt. Will no one think of the debt?

Belated thanks to Camelboy for selecting such a good cause to donate to, which was certainly in tune with the President's speech. Mrs 'Sue and I enjoyed the day.

Rest assured we represented TC with grace and wore pants.

Entree was chimichurri angus beef served with green olive, crispy garbanzo beans, smoked yoghurt & carrot string.

The main was turkey with confit leg ravioli, enoki mushroom & redcurrant jus. Keeping that touch of Christmas in July was a traditional pudding with thick brandy custard for dessert.

I washed it all down with draught beer and a very agreeable Aquilani Sangiovese, while Mrs 'Sue preferred the Bandini Prosecco.

And what about the speeches etc? Anything said that was of note ?

The event was hosted by Craig Willis.

Tribute to Ken Hands (present, but didn't make a speech).

The President's address was good, it was pretty much all about the Carlton Respects program - http://www.carltonfc.com.au/video/2016- ... n-respects

A rep from Hills made a short presentation about their sponsorship of the club.

Daisy & Everitt were in the room, and I saw Murphy at one point, but not much presence from players or past players otherwise. None addressed the function. I think all Board members were there, as well as Trigg, working the room...

Lots of talk about the VP being present (next door) at the ground and the club's Respects campaign (which was obviously the club's theme for the week).

Well attended. Bigger than the Hawthorn President's lunch which I attended last year as guest of a mate.
