3 generations ...... gee that makes me feel old. Seen premierships from the first 2 and hopefully Jack can add to that some time soon.
Good luck Jack

I first went to a Carlton home game in 1957 (sitting on my father's shoulders).

I fully expect to see Ayce, Zaine or Le Bron Silvagni in 2038.

Actually, that's BS (the last part).

Well just think, if the 3 boys now all play and they all have 3 boys, half our team could be Silvagni's for our golden era of the 2040's........

It'd be awesome if Craig Starcevich had a son making his debut on Sat.

Navy, you like me (or is it I) may be feeling a touch old but how many of us in any club in any era can be as lucky as we have been. Eight, count them, eight premierships in our lifetime and the rebuild is on !!!!

stupid decision

who is going to protect him?

FFS he's an AFL player Mossie, not a 14 year old.
Stop sucking on lemons and look at the positives for a change. You might enjoy it.

A) tutt / lamb in or out at this stage is surely more about what they are or aren't doing relative to what is being asked of them by the coaching team rather than how many possessions they get.

B) Silvagni has excited me since I first saw the way he attacks the ball, the contest, the man with the same desperation that his dad showed. I would be surprised if he doesn't go back to VFL soon but important for his development to experience senior footy. And there's a chance he steps it up a notch and stays at afl level.

C) we need to keep Sidebottom and Pendlebury quiet. Suspect cur now and white are both required for this. (I think if we keep these two quiet, it will limit the effectiveness of reload even if he plays well on his own.)

Yeah, Mozzie's gone a bit Helen Lovejoy on this one.

He's not the first undersized kid to ever make an AFL debut. Just look at he Western Bulldogs recently. Pumped games into guys like Caleb Daniel, Toby McLean, Mitch Honeychurch, Bailey Dale and Bailey Williams who were all barely 70kgs in their first year.

'Ready' can mean physically in size, endurance wise, or mentally knowing what is required. Not sure any of us can measure that from behind a keyboard.

when Rob Walls first played he would have had to run around in the shower to get wet.

Kruezer was a failure because he was thrown into the deep end too early getting injured.
Geelong generally give their recruits 2-3 years in the reserves before the Seniors
Hawthorn generally develop them in the reserves
which clubs have won the most flags in the last 15 years?....swans geelong, hawthorn...

Remember Jeff Garlett on debut? Was able to give his man the slip because he could just turn sideways and no one could see him.

sosos is not that quick but has a footy brain

remember jacobs - spent 2- 3 years in the reserves as he couldn't get a game by ratten- had the benefit of protecting his growing body and is now one of the best

There's a dude at the top of Parliament Station (Cnr Lonsdale St) every morning selling The Big Issue. Mad Carlton supporter. We have a chat every now and then. This morning as I walked up the stairs, about half way we noticed each other and there was nothing said, just a flying high five and a "C'mon". Special stuff.

There's a number of reasons why they've won the most flags.

Anyway, Sydney have had a heap of debutants this year. Hawks have played teenagers Lovell and Stewart. One is 4 ft 3, the other 68kgs.

Nothing wrong with giving young players a taste, the trick is managing them over a period of time.
