Not sure it's going to work too much longer.

I'd drop Kreuzer and Gorringe and bring in Phillips and Jaksch. Would look at Whiley as well as he'sin good form.

I'd be surprised if Bolton dropped the spirit of Carlton.

If we bring the effort we displayed against Geelong, we're a chance as any in the competition to win this.

Imagine half their young guns playing at Carlton. Let's hope SOS can keep working his magic.

I agree with this.
I'd be surprised if we didn't drop at least one tall and replace him with run. GWS is a running team and we are vulnerable to that style of play (see north and StK results)

Pressure is great but you have to be able to catch them first if they break out.

I think you're right. So, which running player is available for us?

Also forgot that Whiley is ex GWS...his strength is not speed...nor is Graham's...who?

I look at Jaksch for pick 7 (yes I know the rest) and compare what St Kilda got from GWS for pick 28...Bruce...and feel its time for Jaksch to strut his stuff.
I really hope Boeky becomes a star next year. He showed so much promise in the preseason and early games till he got injured

So Buckley and...who else offers speed other than the injured like Murphy Cuningham and Boekhurst? Surely not Smith

Tutt is the obvious, and worrying, answer. He may not be AFL quality, but he is busting his gut in the 2s, racking up the numbers and he has the speed we crave. Surely deserves a shot in the seniors at some stage this year before he is shown the door at the end of the season.

Sure, if Tutt has genuine speed.

I am not sure Tutt has genuine speed, but times his run well to accept a handball at full pace.
When he gets the ball close to a contest, he doesn't seem to have break away speed from opponent and hurries his disposal which...you know what happens next.
His little legs pump hard like Puopolo's do, but Puopolo has genuine speed as a result, Tutt doesn't...imo.

I'd go out: Gorringe, White. In: Murphy and Jaksch hopefully.

Tuohy Rowe Plowman
Docherty Weitering Byrne
Curnow Cripps Simpson
Thomas Everitt Armfield
Casboult Jaksch Lamb
Kreuzer Murphy Gibbs
Wright Sumner Kerridge Walker

I can't see Murphy being ready for the next match, he'll miss at least the GWS game.

I'm hoping we still have some of that magic potion we gave to Kreuzer and Casboult and he'll be good to go after the bye. You could well be right though.

Tutt has Heaver-legs. Pump away but not quickly.

After the last weeks performance...

I'd go
OUTS: Gorringe, White , Everitt
INS: Phillips, Jaksch, Whiley.

Our Half forwards will have to contain Shaw and Williams who give GWS all there drive and set sooooo much up for them.
Then our backs will have to try and contain Lobb and Cameron somehow..
This could get ugly....

I would drop one of Gorringe, Casboult or Kreuzer but not two.

In Phillips.

Maybe White although he gives it all for Whiley.

Wouldn't be surprised or disappointed to see the MC select someone we haven't seen play under Bolton for this game.

Gowers could get a call up.

Gorringe is being absolutely flogged in the middle of the ground. How do you think he'll go against Mumford?
He won't sleep this week.

I'm not sure if it was the first or second quarter yesterday but when Gorringe replaced Kruezer in the middle St Kilda got 2 quick clearance goals... I found it embarrassing and extremely frustrating that there was zero contest. I'm glad Phillips got through the game and played well, he will be an important in.

True.
Late in the second quarter, the Saints had won 4 of the 5 centre clearances and 11 to 5 general clearances. When you consider 5 of their 7 goals at that point had come from clearances, it demonstrates the need for a strong, competitive midfield group. Its not the place for "fill ins". I appreciate we need to replace injuries but when the genuine ruck men or midfielders are available, we need to utilise them.
I read somewhere that the clearance stats finished reasonably even but its the ability to gain clean clearances which can impact the scoreboard that are the key.
Gorringe affords the opposition ruckman the confidence to focus on his tapwork due to his lack of physicality. It results in high quality clearances that too often result in scores.
When Gorringe went into the ruck again in the 3rd quarter, St Kilda got 2 of their first 3 goals from clinical clearances.
3/4 time, Saints 10 goals from clearances, 3 to Carlton. Thats the game.

I'm not saying Kruezer played well because he didn't. He does however follow up and apply physical presence around the contests.
IMHO, Gorringe either steps up and plays as a forward or he is out of a job.
