I'm loving Bolton, too, of course, but we haven't achieved anything yet. It's nice to get some positive media attention, but it's all cyclical and after a few more losses the boots will be back into the club.
Pleasingly, Bolton himself has acknowledged our progress, but with the proviso of "we're not satisfied" … and nor should we be satisfied.
There's a long, long road ahead before we can stop and enjoy some internal back-patting.
Agree. A lot of the kudos coming our way is due to the ridiculously low expectations about the club externally. Parkins "Worst list than Essendon***", I'm Ralph's "Essendon*** will still beat them twice" Champion Data's "List further away from a flag than any in history etc.
Suddenly people are finding out that football clubs are built around people and not just rankings points and what impact someone like BB can have with full buy in from others.
No doubt we will cop what many will see as "a reality check" in the next fortnight but you just know internally that the direction of the club will not change regardless of the results of past and upcoming.
Nobody would understand how much work there is still to do than a man who was at Box Hill/Hawthorn from 2009-2015 as well as the list manager who helped set up a list that currently has around 1,356 1st round picks......
True with the 'reality check', I don't think anyone either in or outside of Carlton thinks we are suddenly a finalist, but still if/when we lose to North and Geelong people will be saying that.
I don't think anyone seriously thinks we will win either of our next 2, maybe some kind of chance against North but without Levi and Kreuze it looks a bridge too far.
Regardless, the direction of the club shouldn't and won't change.
The only difference might be Synners will come back after his ban saying we all got too excited about beating crap sides and the board need to go.
The board does need to go, nothing's changed there...
