Not exactly a big call when you've got the War On Terror AND the War On Drugs to lean on.

He was making a much bigger call about the scale of said war.

Bolton has been very measured in his postmatch pressers and far from getting carried away.
He's got a good grip on the reality of the state of the list and club in general which is a good guide for the fans.

As I recall Kevin Sheedy used to can Robert Walls (as a coach) because by profession he was a teacher. Not a tough nasho, plumber, back pocket thug. I always thought a coach's job was to teach/instruct players to do what was required to be successful in footy.

Don't think he used that line of thinking re David Parkin though.

Sheedy was and still is a flog.

and here I was chatting to a young primary school teacher who arrived for sunday dinner at 8:30pm after spending the whole sunday at school working/correcting/ planning...same teacher that works every wednesday to 9:00pm so she can be on top of every single student in her 5 - 6 class...

but hey yeah, blood-sucker...no doubt...

Well I appreciated the sarcasm of the first post anyway.

Inappropriate for teachers to be on top of their students, at least in the public system

Tim is definitely on the talk-them-up mode. During the game Saturday said Byrne will be a 10 year player among other things. It's why smart Bolton is repeating the mantra of not getting ahead of ourselves

I know it's easier when you're winning. And I guess we're still in the 'honeymoon' period. But I like how the players are clearly believers about what's going on at the club at the moment. Every time I hear someone from the club interviewed you can hear 'hope' about the new regime.

Almost convinced we've finally got the 2 most important FD positions right with SOS and Bolton, after many years of wa$te and mismanagement.

I'll be nervous until last years and this years drafts kids turn out good.

I know we are using a group think to put finality on who we pick but until we have someone that owns the overall accountibilty as head recruiter then SOS owns that mantle and it's just too early to tell as yet from last years lot

Having said that, SOS is leading a modern day thought process around list management extremely foreign to Carlton so he has a big tick there
