Development !!!

Definitely an improvement, and also from Kreuzer, but a couple of points to consider in regards to both:

- Essendon**'s KPD were Hartley, Ambrose and Gwilt, with Goddard in support
- Late in the third quarter the hitouts to advantage count was 7-2 in Essendon**'s favour

Still prefer Kreuzer everywhere except the centre bounce, but credit to Phillips for providing an aerial contest.

Phillips was better with his marking today

Thomas had his best game for us.

Gibbs I thought was better, easily his best for the season.

I thought both teams were trying to not lose rather than trying to win in the first half. That together with the wind made it look poor. Once the wind dropped it opened up a bit.

We've come a long, long way. As grro mentioned our defensive setup is fantastic, it has been all season.

@#$%&! its nice just to beat these cheating pricks.

Agree with all of this; Gibbs with 2 centre clearances in the last and relished being the main guy in the clinches after quarter time.

I don't get your position on the Philips Kreuzer comparison.

Just straight up, who was the better ruckman/ player between the two? Why?

Well done MC for sticking to your guns.

How was Kreuzer crucial to the win ?

I'm with you...I just saw liability, similarly like some view Casboult.

for the first time in ages, our recruiting dept (ie. SOS) need to be congratulated.

Phillips, Sumner, Wright, Kerridge, Lamb and Plowman all looking like recruiting strokes of genius, while the lazy duo in Yazz and Menz have fallen off the face of the earth at their new Clubs.

I thought ECurnow was fantastic. Along with Simmo showed genuine leadership.

Got a thumping head ache, I couldn't bear the thought that that scum bag mob might run over us at the end.

Best game Daisy has played for us. I was appalled when we signed him up, still reckon we shouldn't have got him, but more than happy to say he was great today.

Loved the effort, mightn't be the most skilled outfit, but by god they put in. Defence is holding up really well, but our forward line is god awful. We are as slow as treacle when the ball hits the ground, ball gets run out too easily way too often. Phillips, Kreuzer, Casboult, Jones, someone has to go for a speedy small forward. Casboult looks totally devoid of confidence, his kicking for goal is as bad if not worse than ever.

Anyway. Go Blues! As I said to my wife after the game, even if we don't win another game this season at least we beat Essendon*.

Unbelievable how much running our boys do defensively.
Credit to Bolton. He has the boys caring.

We also showed with our 3 goals streak in the last that we can also play risky play on footy.

Once we are fit enough to continue our defensive plan and bring more of our running game we will be hot.

When we get a forward line of goal kickers and we have a flag contender.
You know...add a Waite Betts and a mature Garlett....not far away

Those three ex Carlton players you mention are all great front runners. When the whips are cracking at the end of the year they will go missing again. They were on our list for long enough but were never going to help us go all the way. We just didn't get enough value for them.

We had no choice but to start again. At the moment the forward line is horrible but at least defensively we look better.

Thought both Kruzer and Phillips were solid today. Always happy when your ruckman register approx 80 fantasy points each. Solid contributions without being stars.

Doesn't matter...they're gone...I'm just saying 3 good players in the forward line over next year or 2, Daft Tade FA whatever...we can get me back or better.

It was good to see out two rucks and CHF take plenty of marks around the ground today. Made a nice change for our rucks, and made a difference.

Left at 3/4 time. Couldn't take any more. :garthp: Can you ask for your money back from the AFL do you think.

That 2nd quarter from both teams should have had the Benny Hill music playing along. I've seen better skills from an Under 10's game.

Only 1 game out of the Top 8. :smoking: :smoking: :smoking:

Imagine if we had a bit more composure and won that first game. We'd be 3-3...lol.

Waite has a very good finals record, Betts in the previous 5 finals prior to his last one, has kicked 15 goals, and Garlett was certainly ok in finals for us. Think you're off the mark there.

Worried we'd lose?

They show it well enough, and he made a great run with the ball up the guts to kick into the 50 at one point in the second half.

On a day better suited to it, that would have been a goal assist.

I lost interest even more and had the sick feeling in the pit of the stomach when Weits went down. I was convinced he had broken his arm, as he seemed to be in alot of pain.

Thank goodness he is okay. I say give him a rest next week, surely he is due for a spell anyway.

Maybe/sort of/not really. If we won I was just thinking, who cares Essendon* are a pathetic shell of their former self. If we lost I just thought I can't waste any more of my day off watching this sub, sub standard game of AFL football. It was just bordering on painful watching us bomb the ball to 'dumb and dumber'. :banghead: :banghead:
