We wont win, but the new style most teams are playing really doesnt suit Freo...their best match up is North for style...and no surprise it was a tight contest today. It will be interesting to see how the boys go,...Subi will suit us, I'm tipping, we wil look reasonable. ..as usual, it will be the dozen or so clangers that will kill us, an Freo can may us pay for each one.

I tend to agree with sinners that we will meet the Freo of last year and get killed but still looking forward to seeing our development. Just hope our young guns are still positive about the future by the end of the year.

The Freo of last year didn't 'kill' us at all. From memory it was a decent contest.

Or was that the year before??

Surely Jaksch gets a gig and Bolts pretty well said Jones was in during his post match interview.

We have to exploit their forward line by minimising our turnovers and whipping it out. Rowe has to go, Buckley stays for his run. If he'd held that grab and slotted the snagger we'd be lauding his efforts from last night.

A backline of Byrne, Jaksch, Weitering....Docherty, Plowman, 2E(can never remember the spelling) isn't that bad at all.

If Jones gets the nod, one of Phillips or Kreuzer has to go and that is a tough call.

A run in the ruck will do Casboult wonders. His flourbags on the run from outside fifty tend to go through.

Ang Christou in the eyes of the selectors?

We can win this and we will.
Last year Sandilands was the difference. They are not much chop without him, despite having some great players. Here is a bit from the match report from last week. Thanks to the AFL page for the quote:

"The Dockers once again missed the jump against North Melbourne, conceding the first four goals of the game with centre-bounce work Lyon described as deplorable.

"[We had an] incredibly poor start. We got slaughtered out of the middle again, made some adjustments and then we were strong out of there," he (Lyon) said.

"Big-time footy is about starts out of the middle and we were poor in big time footy in the last quarter. We went 1-5 early out of there so that put us under pressure."

If either Kreuzer or Phillips realizes that tapping the ball to our players and not the opposition will actually give us the advantage, we will win it in the midfield.
Cripps is getting tagged every week so to me the obvious thing is to keep the footy away from him at the stoppages. he's good enough to find it in the follow up. That is one way to confuse the opposition mids and then when their system of negating Cripps has to be altered, we go back to plan A. If we could count on Gibbs to get after the footy that would help. Murphy will not play unless he wears a bike helmet so we will need another hard nut at the stoppages. Bell would be handy but maybe Smith or Graham?

If Jones holds his marks we convert. That has been the main issue in all of our 4 games this season. Inside fifties are not being converted to the scoreboard. We do that we win. Then we know how to win. That's a giant hurdle overcome. After that it's much easier for Bolton to convince tham that what they are about is working. That first win. So important. This week we get it.

Wouldn't be the first time Murph has sported a helmet.
I'd bet he plays.

I'm not sure we could beat a drum.

And Damian doesn't even coach them anymore.

Every week we have learnt something new for the future.

This week it was Plowman and Charlie.

Next week it will probably come from one of Byrne, Sumner, or Jacksch.

We are also learning about who wont be there when the whips are cracking ie. Who we need to trade while they have currency.

Looking forward to seeing Charlie on the big ground with space this week

Another mauling by both Freo and the biased umpiring over in the west should make for another horrible day for Carlton fans.

I believe Bolts, SOS and co will fix this in due coarse, which is saying something considering all the broken BS promises of the past.

Its just hard to have to endure this season and next season until things start to improve enough to actually get excited about our chances for September action.

Until then ...

Go blues

Freo dont get the same free ride WCE get from the umps.

I have no idea how it will go but I reckon Ross is going to go back to 2015 entirely Sunday because he'll think that gives him the best chance.

He did, but not quite enough to say, yeah he is a keeper. I suspect he will have one of those games sooner than later though

Both sides kicking less than 50 points and us still losing by 10goals?

My favourite season is October..... Although the Malthouse era meant we were bringing our own Vaseline there too

Knee to the head. Split it open

So what. Where a helmut! Only a flesh wound. Come back and fight like a man. ;)
Walker back in would be great.
Try Weitering forward. Put Cas. Back..way back somewhere..no Jones!!!!! Ever!!!!!! Rowe can f. O. Too.
I like Dylan..he runs faster than his brain though. Liked plowman and sumner too.

I was there to watch Jones on Friday. He looks a completely different player. We see a player now reading the play, leading to the right spots, using his body well to take very strong one-on-one marks, kicked beautifully at goals and his 2nd efforts contributed another 2-3 goals. It was a physically strong, powerful perfomance. That is one player the coaching staff have done an outstanding job with over summer. He played well in the lead-up matches, kicked 3 last week and 5 Friday. I was like you until Friday, never again, and still would've been if I didn't see the game. After that I'm now very happy to reward him and the work he has obviously put in. Interesting to see how he goes forward in the seniors with shit delivery. He might beg to stay in the NBs....lol. Not a great place to be being a key forward at Carlton.

I agree with Casboult. I'd either ruck Casboult or play him at CHB in place of Rowe. Somewhere well away from goal...lol. Nothing at all wrong with how he is playing generally, just his kicking at goal.

Yep..exactly.
Ok Jim
I give him one match.
If he reverts to 'old jones'
Be it on your head!!

Interesting game for us, Freo are playing poorly but I'm still not sure what to take out of our second half against the Bulldogs.

Regardless of what happens though, getting AFL games into Weitering, Curnow, Byrne, Plowman, Cripps, Sumner, Lamb, Kerridge, Graham, Buckley, hopefully Boekhorst and possibly others is great for our future.

I'd be trying my very best to get Weitering playing on the half back line, there will be plenty of Hail Mary kicks coming in for him read off the boot
