If we are on a 66 game reset (62 games to go) you may as well give Jaksch 30 or 40 of them, no point going back to Jamison or Rowe

But umpire 15 didn't deem fit to award a free kick there did he.

In - Jaksch, Jones
Out - Casboult, Kreuzer

I don't expect Jones to come in and kick a bag, but we need to try something different in attack and his VFL performances warrant the opportunity.

Spare Kreuzer the trip to WA. He is struggling, IMO. Who knows, maybe no Kreuzer will bring out the best in Phillips? Rowe to play 2nd ruck and provide cover at both ends as needed. Jaksch to play forward but can go back in a pinch.

If Murph or Thomas don't come up, I guess it's a choice between Tutt, Whiley, DVR or Cunningham.

B: Tuohy Weitering Byrne
HB: Docherty Plowman Simmo
C: Thomas Cripps Murphy
HF: Kerridge Jaksch Wright
F: Lamb Jones C Curnow

R: Phillips Gibbs E Curnow

Inter: Buckley Graham Rowe Sumner

Please drop Rowe from the plane preferably over the Nullabour.

We desperately require an additional midfielder with clean hands. Kerridge is OK outside but he fumbles too much on the inside. Graham and Gibbs are good value if someone is winning the ball for them. Personally, I think Docherty is the logical option. Smart, rarely fumbles and courageous. I'd push him onto the middle and maybe drop Gibbs to half back.
Levi has shown his value as a high tall forward. He's too much of a liability close to goal but he's a good link around the middle of the ground. Its time to bring Jones in as our deep forward.

Out Graham, Buckley, Kruezer
In Jones, Cunningham, DVR

Kreuzer's tale is a sad one.

He was flying before his initial knee injury.

He looks done in and I'd give him a rest.

Cripps also commenting at half time to Ling about the necessity to convert. Two weeks in a row now...are they trying to drop a hint with team selection perhaps?

Subtle as the proverbial.

We need to decide if Jaksch is going to be a forward or a defender and just bring him in.

I like the idea of him playing back with Weitering and Plowman, the three of them working on some synergy as they develop together.

If it's ok to throw Curnow in to learn on the job(which he is doing admirably) then surely it's the way to go for Jaksch as well.

We're a chance here.

I think we'll be closer to this mob than our last 3 games.

In: Jamison, Jacsh, Vioji-Rainbow
Out : Kreuzer, Rowe, Graham

Thinking more about this, and being a little more tentative on Murphy's injury, I'm more inclined to go with:

Out: Rowe, Phillips, Casboult, Graham
In: Jaksch, Gorringe, Everitt, Cuningham

Other potential changes are Graham staying put if Murphy doesn't come up, DVR for Murphy or Thomas (reported as having issues with his left knee and right ankle at the end of the game) and Armfield for Buckley.

If the YT footage and previous weeks are anything to go by, Jones is getting closer, and thankfully it's not purely through attrition: he's looking much more confident and getting incrementally better at his patterns and ball use with each game. Good on him for recognising things that he can and can't control and working to improve them.

He's still a little sluggish dishing the ball off in traffic, so I'd rather get Jaksch in for now to play that second/third tall up forward.

Everitt should come straight back in, and hopefully offer much more pressure and run now that he's injury free. He can play the deep forward target and impact the game at ground level more than Levi has been able to.

Gorringe was brought in as insurance for Levi, and it's probably time we cash it in. I half-want to give Levi time in the forward/ruck role that Phillips has been afforded, but some of the 2nd efforts Levi showed last night were unacceptable, no matter how frustrating some of the umpiring was. Combine that with him being bereft of confidence in front of goal and it's time for him to go back the VFL.

Gorringe's pressure at ground level, as well as his ability to get goals on the burst due to his ability to work over an opponent should be a handful for some secondary AFL defenders, and it seems he helped lead the charge in the second half of the VFL match with his spread and pattern running in a 3-tall forward line.

It then becomes a choice between Phillips and Kreuzer, and I still think Kreuzer takes the spot; something's not right, but if it were up to me I'd be willing to try him as lead ruck against an undermanned Freo ruck division. If it fails, it probably doesn't affect the outcome and he can be rested and Phillips given the chance.

Finally, Graham was found out last night after some quieter performances. We have better options inside the bubble and off half-forward, and he's not really getting space outside the stoppage right now. He can go back and work on some things, as well as helping out our new guys at that level. Cuningham brings something different to our clearances, as well as being dangerous off HF.

Jamison and DVR are unlucky in some ways, but I figure if they want Jamo to work on something, they should probably let him play a VFL game. DVR will get his chance very soon, possibly even in lieu of injuries, but falls victim to the need to re-engineer our tall stocks and give some other running types a chance.

I was there to watch Jones on Friday. He looks a completely different player. We see a player now reading the play, leading to the right spots, using his body well to take very strong one-on-one marks, kicked beautifully at goals and his 2nd efforts contributed another 2-3 goals. It was a physically strong, powerful perfomance. That is one player the coaching staff have done an outstanding job with over summer. He played well in the lead-up matches, kicked 3 last week and 5 Friday. I was like you until Friday, never again, and still would've been if I didn't see the game. After that I'm now very happy to reward him and the work he has obviously put in. Interesting to see how he goes forward in the seniors with shit delivery. He might beg to stay in the NBs....lol. Not a great place to be being a key forward at Carlton.

I agree with Casboult. I'd either ruck Casboult or play him at CHB in place of Rowe. Somewhere well away from goal...lol. Nothing at all wrong with how he is playing generally, just his kicking at goal.
